As a gaming enthusiast, I can’t help but share my thoughts on Dafne Keen’s recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter. You know, the actress who played X-23 alongside Hugh Jackman in Logan. With her busy schedule juggling Star Wars: The Acolyte and this year’s epic MCU blockbuster, it was a bit unclear if she’d return for another movie with Wolverine. But then came that heartfelt campfire scene, and boy, did it change things!
“In an unexpected twist of fate, Keen recounted a story where she lost her only paternal figure, only to reconnect with her biological father after nearly a decade. However, their bond wasn’t reciprocated as he didn’t recognize her as his daughter. This bittersweet situation made them like father and daughter in essence across all realities. When they met, there was an immediate sense of comfort that allowed him to share confidences with her – something he might not have done with others. Similarly, she felt comfortable opening up to him too. Their unique connection made the scenes they played together particularly touching, as though he knew her even without realizing it.”
Deadpool & Wolverine Brings Back X-23
X-23’s character found a new direction with Deadpool and Wolverine. Laura was overjoyed to wear her glasses once more in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Eons ago, there were plans underway for her character to lead her own film. However, as told to Entertainment Weekly, these ideas were discarded due to the merger between Fox and Disney. She had accepted that she might never portray X-23 again. But then, a call from Shawn Levy during Star Wars: The Acolyte turned things around completely, and the actress is deeply thankful for this unexpected chain of events.
Keen shared that there had been discussions about a script being developed, and he had heard it might be an X-23 film. However, he admitted that since he was only 11 years old at the time, the information could have been inaccurate; this is just what he had learned through rumors.
She expressed disappointment about Disney acquiring 20th Century Fox, which essentially concluded the X-Men series as it was previously known. She lamented, “I guess that’s just how things go… life moves on,” despite the fact that she cherishes the opportunity to portray this character, and ironically, she had already played her at the tender age of 11. In essence, she felt she reached her peak at 11.
