Deadpool & Wolverine Has a Hilarious Back to the Future Easter Egg

As a lifelong fan of both Marvel and time-traveling sci-fi epics, I couldn’t help but be thrilled by the delightful Easter egg hidden in Deadpool & Wolverine that paid homage to Back to the Future. The subtle nod to Lone Pine Mall was a clever wink to fans who appreciate the intricacies of interwoven narratives and multiverse-hopping adventures.

The action-packed duo of Deadpool and Wolverine has been making waves in the cinematic universe, setting new benchmarks at box offices and consistently surpassing viewer’s anticipations. The Marvel Studios production is richly adorned with witty Easter eggs and cultural references – and this includes a nod to the iconic sci-fi series, Back to the Future.

In the movie “Back to the Future,” the main characters travel back in time through their neighborhood mall, originally known as Twin Pines Mall. When Marty McFly (Michael J. Fox) accidentally hits two pine trees during his time-travel to the 1950s, the mall’s name changes to Lone Pine Mall in the present. Although this doesn’t necessarily mean that Deadpool & Wolverine’s Earth-10005 shares the same universe with the Back to the Future films, it’s a clever nod to the franchise’s theme of time travel and dimension hopping. The chaotic ending of “Deadpool 2,” where Deadpool causes mayhem across different times and locations using Cable’s time machine, also makes an impressive reference to this concept.
