Deadpool & Wolverine: Hulk Cameo Released Online

As a lifelong comic book enthusiast who has spent countless hours poring over the pages of Uncanny X-Men and Incredible Hulk, I must say that Marvel Studios has truly outdone themselves with Deadpool & Wolverine. The film’s incredible cameos are like a dream come true for us old-school fans.

Half a century since his debut in The Incredible Hulk comics, the long-awaited showdown between Wolverine and Hulk unfolded in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the blockbuster Deadpool & Wolverine shattering records as the highest-grossing R-rated film ever, earning a staggering $1.5 billion worldwide within just four weeks of its release, Marvel Studios is now revealing some of the movie’s stunning cameos.

The latest video on Marvel Korea’s YouTube channel, which you can find below, includes a surprise appearance by Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, along with sneak peeks of several popular characters from the upcoming film. These include Chris Evans as the Human Torch, Jennifer Garner as Elektra, Channing Tatum as Gambit, Dafne Keen as X-23, and Wesley Snipes as Blade.

In a casual tone, Wade Wilson (played by Ryan Reynolds) addresses a version of Logan (portrayed by Hugh Jackman), “That’s your old John Byrne costume, right? You had a tussle with the Hulk in that, didn’t you?” He interjects this during a moment about to see Logan and the Hulk fight.

The scene, which features the first live-action appearance of the brown Wolverine costume that debuted in the classic Chris Claremont-John Byrne Uncanny X-Men #139 in 1980, also pays homage to artist Todd McFarlane’s iconic cover of 1987’s Incredible Hulk #340. (In that issue, it’s the grey-skinned Hulk who slugs it out to a standstill with the brown-clad Wolvie in a fierce Texas blizzard.)

Occasionally, folks will share with me moments from TV shows or films that remind them of me, even going so far as to use me in a Jeopardy! question. It’s usually unexpected, which makes it a bit surprising. When something like this happens, I respond, “Ah, that wasn’t my doing, so I’m clueless.” What intrigues me the most is how my neighbors react. They’ll rush over to my door, “Did you catch last night’s Big Bang Theory? They mentioned you!” I guess I’ve grown weary of myself.

The cover is a familiar one to fans, McFarlane noted, “Yet, thanks to Marvel for continuously fueling the McFarlane flame. They appreciate my relevance even after three decades. It’s peculiar to me, but I’m grateful.”

Marvel Studios’ Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing only in theaters.
