Deadpool & Wolverine: Ryan Reynolds Thanks Jon Favreau for Bringing Happy Back

As a gamer with over two decades worth of comic book movie history under my belt, I must say that the inclusion of Jon Favreau in the Deadpool & Wolverine film was nothing short of spectacular! Growing up with Iron Man and Happy Hogan as staples in my cinematic diet, it was a delight to see their dynamic unfold once again on the big screen.

Ryan Reynolds, who plays Deadpool and Wolverine, expressed gratitude towards Jon Favreau for his cameo appearance in the movie. During many screenings, viewers cheered excitedly when they spotted Happy Hogan interviewing Wade Wilson early in the film. What they didn’t know was that this was only the beginning of several impressive cameos throughout the movie. Securing Favreau for the project wasn’t simple, but once he arrived on set, they sought his advice about creating a movie within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It appears that his contribution has paid off, as evidenced by the film. To learn more about Reynolds’ thoughts on this fantastic cameo, check out his tweet below.

In a heartfelt message, Ryan Reynolds shared that Jon Favreau didn’t just join #DeadpoolAndWolverine for a fleeting moment as Happy Hogan. Instead, he provided us with a comprehensive perspective, demonstrating his innovative spirit, pivotal role in the Marvel universe, and exceptional storytelling abilities. Interestingly, Reynolds mentioned that Favreau seems to be uneasy with everything being written in this post, but he pressed on regardless because he managed to extract what he needed from him. In a humorous twist, Reynolds concluded that Favreau will reluctantly “drink the medicine” now.

Ryan Reynolds shared his enthusiasm for playing Deadpool, stating that they both share a deep love for Marvel. Working with one of the original creators, Jon, was an exceptional experience, even better than sitting with one of his heroes. It was almost as rewarding as being comforted by Thor after losing a beloved toy in a house fire. Reynolds considers Jon to be among the greats in the industry. The movie undoubtedly benefited from Jon’s performance, but what made it truly special was his willingness to discuss storylines and explore deeper themes and ideas. Reynolds would gladly drop everything to collaborate with Jon again, anywhere or anytime. Thank you, Jon.

It’s indisputable that the director of “Iron Man” played a significant role in shaping the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the powerhouse it is today. In an early interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Robert Downey, Jr., discussed this very topic, focusing on Marvel Studios’ films. During a conversation with Colman Domingo, Andrew Scott, Mark Ruffalo, Jeffrey Wright, and Paul Giamatti, the Oscar winner emphasized the extent of Favreau’s creative freedom on “Iron Man”.

Downey Jr. started by saying, “Working with Jon Favreau on Iron Man felt almost destined. I recall watching Swingers and being amazed that the same guy who delivered that memorable monologue was also the director. Plus, he attended Bronx Science, and performed improv in Chicago – both of us hailing from Queens! It seemed like we were meant for this collaboration. Furthermore, there wasn’t much certainty that Iron Man would be successful. He was considered a secondary character by Marvel. They allowed the crazy ones to take charge initially, which made the approach to this genre film more independent and unique.”
