Deadpool & Wolverine's F-Bomb Count Sets Franchise Record

As a seasoned gamer and Marvel Cinematic Universe enthusiast with a soft spot for the occasional R-rated adventure, I must say that the latest installment, Deadpool & Wolverine, has truly lived up to my expectations. The sheer number of f-bombs in this film is simply astounding – it’s like they took the script from a sailor’s log and transformed it into a superhero movie!

In last week’s box office hit, Deadpool and Wolverine introduced the character known as the Merc With a Mouth into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a strong focus on his verbal prowess. This new movie, being the third in the Deadpool series and the first one to be part of the MCU, has broken records for its use of the f-word. As reported by the New York Post, there are 116 uses of this particular word in Deadpool and Wolverine, making it the most frequent in any Deadpool film so far. This is a significant increase compared to Deadpool 2, released in 2018, which only had 90 instances. Interestingly, the use of the f-word in Deadpool and Wolverine is also more frequent than in Logan, a movie centered around Wolverine that was released in 2017 and contained approximately 40 uses of the word.

It’s not unexpected that Deadpool and Wolverine use a lot of strong language, considering their upcoming movie received an R rating due to frequent use of strong violence, profanity, gore, and sexual references. Interestingly, this is the first Marvel Studios film to earn an official R rating. Prior to its release, fans were already hinted about the explicit content through red band trailers, explicit synopses, and a deliberately vulgar popcorn bucket.

Deadpool & Wolverine Sets Another Box Office Record

Indeed, it’s not just the unprecedented use of f-bombs in the Deadpool series that’s making headlines lately. The latest film featuring Deadpool and Wolverine has broken several records, including having the largest opening weekend since Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) and ranking among the top ten biggest opening weekends ever. This week, it set a new record for the best Wednesday performance by an R-rated movie, earning $19.3 million, outdoing the previous record held by 2019’s Joker with $9.6 million, according to Deadline.
