As a movie reviewer, I’m excited to share that after Ralf Little’s departure at the end of season 13, the BBC murder mystery is welcoming a new lead character in the upcoming episode. The role is filled by Don Gilet, previously known for his work on EastEnders, and yes, you’ve got it right – he’ll be stirring up some controversy as DI Mervin Wilson!
Regarding the opportunity to join “Death in Paradise”, Gilet expressed it as if he’s been given a cherished and valuable gem, saying: “The prospect of playing the new lead role is like finding an exceptionally treasured and priceless stone in my possession.
“This production holds a massive amount of warmth, and its appeal only expands over time. I strive to always keep this in mind, feeling grateful, humbled, and committed.
Despite those challenging moments when my instincts urge me to flee the scene and plunge into the nearest swimming pool, ocean, or refreshment – whatever is nearby at that instant.
The complete development of Gilet’s character is being deliberately hidden to heighten our anticipation, but executive producer Tim Key hinted at a “moving narrative” or “deep emotional journey” for Gilet instead.
“He’s an amazing actor, he’s funny,” he said. “But he also has an emotional storyline.”
Key also said that it “feels as though he was born to lead” the show.
“From day one, it felt like he’d been there for ever,” he added. “We’re lucky to have him.”

The Christmas special episode of Death in Paradise this year will be broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer at 8:30 PM on Sunday, the 22nd of December.

However, he swiftly delves deep into a baffling murder case that has left his team scratching their heads: three individuals, who appear to have no connection except for the fact they were all dressed as Santa Claus, and apparently all fell victim to the same gun at the same instant.
“In dealing with an apparent unsolvable murder case, Mervin’s coworkers find it challenging to adapt to their new superior’s unconventional work style. Meanwhile, Dwayne’s Christmas reunion with his father didn’t turn out as he had hoped.
