The fresh season of Death in Paradise has begun, and we now get a glimpse into the upcoming episodes as the team takes on a murder investigation while riding a zip line.
One image features Mervin, Don Gillet’s character, perched atop a platform amidst trees, surveying a particular line. Other images depict Mervin, Darlene, and Naomi congregated at the inspector’s cabin.
The upcoming episode features a fresh character, Jonny Feldon, portrayed by guest actor Simon Lennon, alongside other guest performers such as David Avery, Adam James, Bhavna Limbachia, Sofia Oxenham, and Joy Richardson.
In the summary, it’s mentioned that Mervin and his group encounter an intriguing predicament as a game show competitor gets stabbed while taping the final episode of the series.
“In a baffling turn of events, the victim is murdered in midair whilst hurtling down a zip line.
With several TV crew members facing suspicion, Mervin takes everyone by surprise when he agrees to extend his time on Saint Marie by signing a new contract.
However, a disagreement arises between him and Selwyn as Mervin’s true intention behind prolonging his stay surfaces. Interestingly, Selwyn also harbors some hidden truths…
As a dedicated moviegoer, I’m thrilled to share that this new season introduces a fresh face, Gilet, joining the stellar cast of familiar faces – Shantol Jackson, Ginny Holder, Don Warrington, and Elizabeth Bourgine – who are all returning for another fantastic ride!
Additionally, it’s been announced that beloved character JP Hooper will make an appearance later in the series, with Tobi Bakare reprising his role as a special guest star.
As a passionate cinephile, when I was questioned by TopMob magazine about the importance of being the initial Black leading character in our show, I certainly didn’t mince words: “Absolutely, unequivocally! It’s a role that carries immense significance for me. On one hand, I can’t overstate its importance; on the other, there are no words sufficient to encapsulate it fully.
“I think to see a black lead in the most popular show on the BBC is a wonderful thing.”
In the meantime, Warrington expressed that regardless of the initial motives behind Gilet’s casting, it’s eliciting an overwhelmingly positive response – a fact that deserves to be applauded repeatedly.
