Death in Paradise fans celebrate Ralf Little’s debut as reruns get huge ratings

As a film enthusiast and longtime fan of Death in Paradise, I must admit that Ralf Little’s departure from the show left me feeling a pang of sadness. His portrayal of Detective Neville Parker brought a unique charm and wit to the series that was hard to replace.

Fans of “Death in Paradise” are delighted to see actor Ralf Little back on TV screens, even though he’s no longer a part of the show itself. The BBC is still broadcasting past episodes featuring him.

For viewers of linear TV, it’s a nostalgic treat to see the ongoing broadcast of season 9, marking the arrival of Little as Detective Neville Parker on Death in Paradise.

Swiftly, social media was filled with fans sharing their enthusiasm as Little reappeared on our screens as Parker in “Death in Paradise.” One supporter praised the actor, while another exclaimed: “Good evening Inspector Parker! It seems I’ve arrived just in time for the most captivating moment of #DeathInParadise.”

Another viewer expressed their disappointment on Twitter: “I’ve been rewatching Death in Paradise on BBC One with Ralf Little. It’s sad to see that so many of the original cast have been replaced… this show was at its best.”

Since Little’s debut in the role, there have been many developments. He fell in love with Saint Marie, chose to stay on the island, worked on solving numerous murder cases, and even found himself involved in romantic entanglements.

Without a doubt, faithful viewers of the program keep coming back for more, as evidenced by the 1.71 million people who watched it on Tuesday, 23rd July, according to recent ratings.

As a movie buff, I’d put it this way: During the week of July 12th to 14th, I tuned in to Death in Paradise and was joined by 1.53 million other viewers. The following week, from July 19th to 21st, our numbers grew significantly with a stunning 1.81 million people catching the latest episode.

Certainly, it was revealed earlier this year that Little is no longer part of the show.

In expressing his gratitude, Little expressed, “A huge heartfelt thanks to all of you who tuned in and stood by me since I joined the show four and a half years ago.”

Joining a popular series with a massive fanbase came with immense pressure as I wasn’t sure how audiences would receive my portrayal of Neville or even accept me as an actor.

I’m glad the reaction has been so positive and enjoyable for me to introduce Neville Parker to you, and it’s been a great honor and joy to let you in on his deeply moving story.

As a seasoned actor with years of experience under my belt, having worked on shows like EastEnders and Sherwood, I can confidently say that taking on the role of Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in the new series set in Saint Marie is an exciting yet daunting challenge. With a strong background in British drama, I’m no stranger to the gritty realism and complex characters that come with this territory.

Another exciting project for Little’s fans, apart from “Death in Paradise,” is his upcoming series with acting partner Will Mellor from “Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps” called “Will & Ralf: When They Shouldn’t Have.”

As a movie lover, I’m excited for the new series where my favorite duo will explore their spiritual selves and grapple with the fears of growing older. Each episode promises to be intriguing, tackling themes like the challenges of living off-grid and the unexpected hardships that come with it – like running out of toilet paper!

Each week, BBC One broadcasts new episodes of Death in Paradise’s ninth season every Tuesday at 9pm. Previous seasons 1 through 13 can be streamed on BBC iPlayer.
