As a die-hard fan of Death in Paradise who has been waiting with bated breath for the latest spin-off, Return to Paradise, I can hardly contain my excitement! The wait has been agonizing, especially since the drama has already unfolded Down Under and premiered way back in September. But hey, good things come to those who wait, right?
For enthusiasts of Death in Paradise, it’s reassuring news that the series is growing yet again and its upcoming spin-off, titled “Return to Paradise,” will be premiering on our television sets shortly.
The Australia-based series is officially set to debut on BBC One this coming Friday, 22nd November, starting at 8 PM.
Fans of Death in Paradise are thrilled with the latest news, especially those in the UK who have been eagerly anticipating the series since it started airing Down Under in September. Now, after a long wait, the show is finally making its way to our side of the world.
Earlier in August, a sneak peek of the upcoming series was unveiled, offering glimpses of the upcoming action, along with stunning views of various coastal regions in Sydney and Illawarra that were utilized as filming locations.
In a novel twist, “Return to Paradise” introduces Detective Inspector Mackenzie Clarke, played by Anna Samson, as the main female investigator in the ‘Paraverse’. Leaving her bustling London life with the Met Police behind, she’s heading back to her Australian hometown where she’ll be resuming her crime-fighting duties.
Based on the summary: “Return to Paradise focuses on DI Mackenzie Clarke, portrayed by Anna Samson, a former Australian resident who gained recognition in London’s Metropolitan Police for solving seemingly unsolvable murder cases. When she is charged with tampering with evidence, Mackenzie finds herself back in Australia, a place she had hoped never to return to – her small coastal town of Dolphin Cove.
Six years have passed since Mackenzie abandoned her town and jilted Glenn (Tai Hara) on their wedding day. As a result, she’s no longer welcomed in this community.
Given that he had no other employment choices and a knack for unraveling even the most complex mysteries, an unwilling Mack eventually signed up with the team at the Dolphin Cove Police Station.
When a case comes across her desk, she becomes relentless until she solves it and the perpetrator is arrested. It’s her determination and hard work that could eventually earn Mackenzie respect from her peers in Dolphin Cove and the townspeople.
Besides Samson, the cast for Return to Paradise features Lloyd Griffith (Ted Lasso character), Tai Hara (Colin from Accounts), Catherine McClements (Total Control actress), Celia Ireland (Wentworth Prison actress), Andrea Demetriades (The Artful Dodger actress) and Aaron McGrath (Preppers actor).
This holiday season is shaping up to be quite busy for ‘Paraverse’ enthusiasts. In addition to the anticipated Christmas specials of Death in Paradise and Beyond Paradise, they can also expect new episodes to air in the new year.
In the upcoming season of Death in Paradise, Don Gilet officially joins the cast as the new character, Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson, replacing Ralf Little’s role as former leading detective Neville Parker.
Return to Paradise will air on BBC One and iPlayer on Friday 22nd November.
