As a seasoned film enthusiast with a penchant for international detective dramas, I find myself eagerly anticipating the upcoming series, Saint Pierre, starring the talented Joséphine Jobert. Having been captivated by her portrayal of Detective Camille Bordey in Death in Paradise, I’m excited to see her take on a new role as Deputy Chief Geneviève ‘Arch’ Archambault.
Actress Joséphine Jobert, best known for her role in Death in Paradise, has signed up for a fresh detective series, and the long-awaited preview is now available.
In the Canadian television show “Saint Pierre,” the performer takes on the role of Deputy Chief Geneviève ‘Arch’ Archambault, mirroring a familiar scenario from one of their previous ventures, where an unusual situation unfolds amidst a picturesque island setting.
Instead, it’s important to note that this time around, the island is situated within the authentic French territories of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, located off the coast of Newfoundland, Canada, rather than the fictional Saint Marie, which is filmed on the actual island of Guadeloupe in the Caribbean.
In the series, Jobert’s on-screen persona is originally from Paris, yet she finds herself in a distant location, details about why not revealed just yet. However, matters grow intricate when Inspector Donny ‘Fitz’ Fitzpatrick, portrayed by Allan Hawco, enters the scene.
Below is the trailer for Saint Pierre on the show’s official Instagram page. It also reveals that the series will premiere in Canada on Monday, 6th January 2025, on CBC.
A UK broadcaster is yet to be announced.
As a movie enthusiast, let me share that in this upcoming film, I’ve noticed some familiar faces that have piqued my interest. Among them is James Purefoy from Sex Education, who brings an ominous presence to the detective duo. Additionally, you might recognize Benz Antoine from Four Brothers, Erika Prevost from The Boys, and Jean-Michel Le Gal from French Exit.
“Despite appearing as a charming vacation spot, beneath its picturesque exterior lies a dark underbelly where some of the most heinous crimes often surface on its pristine beaches.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled about the sneak peek that reveals an intriguing mix of eccentric personalities, humorous situations, and grittier scenes, not forgetting the nail-biting bomb diffusing scene reminiscent of Trigger Point, which puts Arch’s allegiance to her latest partner and confidant to the ultimate test.
The inventor and leading actor, Hawco – a native of Newfoundland – has gained recognition not only for his role in Amazon Prime Video’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan but also for developing the CBC comedy-drama series Republic of Doyle.
