With the upcoming release of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” for PlayStation 5 on June 26, it appears that Kojima Productions is extending invitations to various media outlets to have a chance to play the game in advance. Several outlets have shared on social media platforms that they’ve received an invitation to visit Kojima Productions’ office and get their hands on the game before its release.
As an ardent fan, I’m thrilled to share that I’ll be among those getting a firsthand experience with the anticipated title, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. It appears that preview articles for this game are set to surface on May 8. In an exciting announcement on BlueSky, they’ve revealed that VGC is currently playing Death Stranding 2 at Kojima Productions. So, keep your eyes peeled for our exclusive coverage coming your way on May 8!
Dan Rykert from GameSpot and Giant Bomb has announced that he’ll have an opportunity to play ‘Death Stranding 2’, as he shared on BlueSky: “I can’t wait to spend a week at Kojima Productions in Tokyo and playing loads of ‘Death Stranding 2’. Keep an eye out for my preview on GameSpot on May 8!
Various other outlets like Kinda Funny Games, Game Informer, and Eurogamer have been given a chance to experience Death Stranding 2: On the Beach hands-on are part of this group, along with several others.
Previously, we caught a glimpse of Death Stranding 2: On the Beach during its trailer debut at SXSW 2025, and it was then that we learned about the game’s release date in June 26. Since that time, director Hideo Kojima has been sharing clues hidden within the lengthy trailer for players to decipher. Recently on social media platform X, Kojima disclosed a couple of these hints, such as parts of the SSS highways having roofs.
In his post on X, Kojima hinted that if you take a closer look at the game system, there are several indicators. For instance, notice how some sections of the SSS highways feature a rooftop. Additionally, certain structures emit a bright light similar to convenience stores during the night.
Previously this month, Kojima announced that authentic bokka messengers, who inspired the gameplay mechanics in Death Stranding, will be featured in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. To clarify, a bokka is a traditional Japanese courier who traverses rugged terrain and delivers supplies to isolated regions. In appearance, they resemble the more advanced backpacks used in Death Stranding, carrying their loads on a wooden frame on their back.
The upcoming game titled “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach” is almost ready to hit the shelves, as indicated by Hideo Kojima’s recent statement. He mentioned that the progress on “Death Stranding 2” stands at about 95%, which equates to 10 pm on a 24-hour development clock, suggesting that the final hour of development is fast approaching.
Speaking about the advancements in the production of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” Kojima announced back in March that the audio mixing and ADR process had been finished. He also acknowledged the assistance provided by Molinaire’s team in London during the final stages of the game’s audio work.
