Death Stranding 2: On the Beach – Kojima Turned Away Half the People Who Wanted to Be Scanned

Ever since the creation of Death Stranding, it’s been an exciting journey for me, as a gamer, inviting famous faces over to Kojima Productions for character scanning. But with the upcoming sequel, Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, director Hideo Kojima has had to decline a handful of eager celebrities who wanted to join the game’s cast.

According to user Genki_JPN, Kojima mentioned during his latest radio broadcast that he had to decline around half of those who wished to be scanned for appearances within “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.” Additionally, he hinted that some well-known celebrities set to appear as preppers in the game will be showcased in the promotional trailer prior to its release.

Hideo Kojima has disclosed that it approximately takes 15 minutes to digitally capture a single individual for them to appear in the game as a prepper within the game. However, he remains undecided about whether he will make an appearance in “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach.” In a recent broadcast, Kojima expressed his reluctance to be scanned for the sequel, suggesting that he might not be featured in the game at all.

It’s intriguing to note that Hideo Kojima, the creator, often makes unexpected appearances in some of his own games. For instance, this has been observed in the PSP game “Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker” and even in “Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain”. Moreover, he’s also made cameos in other titles, such as CD Projekt RED’s “Cyberpunk 2077”, where he can be spotted in the lobby of one of the initial areas in the open-world action RPG.

Beyond highlighting a few star appearances in “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,” Kojima has hinted that the launch trailer will unveil numerous fresh details for players to explore and speculate about before diving into the game. The upcoming trailer is anticipated to be relatively brief compared to previous trailers for the game.

Lately, enthusiasts in Japan have stumbled upon an undercover promotional strategy by Kojima Productions, which distributes pocket tissues. As reported by Reddit users, these tissues contain a QR code that directs the scanner to a cryptic video on the official website for “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”. The video, titled “Prepper Awaiting Porter”, lasts approximately 40 seconds.

Title Announcement: Death Stranding 2: On the Shore will debut on PlayStation 5 on June 26th. Gamers can choose between Quality and Performance settings based on their preference for a seamless frame rate or enhanced graphics. Performance mode is said to run at 60 frames per second, although it may slightly sacrifice visual quality. Conversely, the Quality mode runs the game at 30 frames per second but offers higher resolutions and improved graphical accuracy.
