Death Stranding Movie Will be “an Unbelievable and Strange Film” – Hideo Kojima

Currently, production company A24 is working on a movie based on the game developed by Kojima Productions titled “Death Stranding”. However, specifics about this film adaptation are still scarce. On his recent radio show Koji10, Hideo Kojima, the series creator, has hinted that the movie will be an extraordinary and peculiar production.

As stated by user Genki_JPN, Kojima praised Michael Sarnoski as a kind individual and considered him an ideal choice for the film’s direction. Furthermore, he mentioned that Sarnoski doesn’t fit the standard Hollywood mold.

As a fan, I’m thrilled to share that I think Director Michael Sarnoski is exceptionally intelligent, has impeccable taste, and is an absolute delight to know. I’m more than pleased that he’s in charge of the film. Interestingly, I learned that Michael is quite proficient in gaming – he’s played ‘Death Stranding’ and ‘Metal Gear Solid 1’, and was planning on diving into ‘MGS2’ and ‘MGS3’. However, Hideo Kojima stopped him, finding him unlike a typical Hollywood figure.

Excitedly speaking here, I’ve just learned that Michael Sarnoski has taken the helm to direct the highly anticipated A24 ‘Death Stranding’ project! Known for his work in films like ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’, ‘Pig’, and the upcoming ‘The Death of Robin Hood’, I can hardly wait to see what he brings to this production. Notably, Lars Knudsen and Ari Aster’s Square Peg have also joined the team as co-producers, which adds another layer of anticipation for this movie!

2023 saw A24 contributing to the making of the movie “Death Stranding”. Known for producing independent films that often receive significant critical praise, A24 has a diverse portfolio. Some of its notable productions include “Everything Everywhere All at Once”, “Lady Bird”, and “The Whale”. The company also boasts several critically-acclaimed horror films like “Hereditary”, “The VVitch”, and “Midsommar”.

2023 data showed that Kojima has been actively involved in the making of the Death Stranding film, overseeing aspects such as production, scriptwriting, visual aesthetics, design, and content development.

Currently, Kojima Productions is preparing for the launch of “Death Stranding 2: On the Beach”, set to hit stores exclusively on PlayStation 5 on June 26th.
