A well-known DC Universe antagonist has been resurrected once more. Although it’s now expected that comic book characters will be reborn, it’s still thrilling when it occurs in reality. With the Justice League absent, the Titans took charge, leading to a confrontation against Deathstroke and his horde of villains during the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. It’s difficult to keep a formidable villain like Slade Wilson/Deathstroke down for too long. That’s correct, folks, Deathstroke is back in action and he’s targeting his age-old enemies, the Titans.

View Urgent ForecastIn a sneak peek of issue #22 by John Layman and Bayliss, DC unveils that the storyline begins several months ago, finding Deathstroke confined in a restraining device. But his peaceful convalescence is disrupted when someone activates an “Emergency Stop” switch, causing a ripple effect throughout his body. This mysterious individual turns out to be Tara Markov, who once went by the superhero name Terra and was a member of the Titans. Her connection with Deathstroke, Slade Wilson, is complex due to her past as an undercover agent for him within the Titans team.
Slade queries Terra if she’s there to end his life at last. “End your life? That sounds like the most appealing plan of the day,” she replies. “And I have no doubt that I will… in due time.
Instead, Terra liberates Deathstroke. She explains that every cell in Deathstroke’s body is still blazing like a supernova, and she’s been gradually reducing his intake of painkillers and sedatives. As an extra measure, Deathstroke was given a concoction to expedite his recovery and rid him of the Darkness that consumed him during the Dark Crisis on Infinite Earths. To summarize, Deathstroke is almost back to his top fighting condition.
In the story “Absolute Power”, it’s revealed that Deathstroke is being detained in a prison run by a new agency called the Bureau of Sovereignty, an idea conceived by Amanda Waller. You see, Amanda had implanted bombs in several villains to force them into her service, but as readers of “Absolute Power” know, her power grab didn’t succeed. Terra, although skeptical about Amanda’s chances, felt she needed Deathstroke’s assistance to escape. If she was going to die trying to break free, she figured it would be better if Deathstroke joined her in the attempt.
In the finale of issue #22 of Titans, Deathstroke and Terra departed towards the city lights after she utilized her powers to shatter their confinement, a scene that occurred several months prior. It’s uncertain where these characters have ended up or what schemes they may be hatching now. Given their history, it’s probably safe to assume that their next move will involve targeting the Titans.
