Deltarune Chapters 3 and 4 are finally here with a full release that’s blowing up Steam right now — I’m finally ready to play the Undertale follow-up

After much anticipation, the long-awaited adventure game Deltarune, a sequel by indie developer Toby Fox following his immensely successful and critically acclaimed 2015 release Undertale, has officially been released in full. The game is now available on Windows PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch 2, and Nintendo Switch. While there’s no official confirmation yet, it’s hoped that the game will also be made available on Xbox at some point, as was the case with Undertale.

Deltarune can be bought for $24.99 on its respective platforms, offering a complimentary demo to those who wish to test it out before purchasing. It’s important to note that Toby Fox has been meticulously crafting the game for quite some time, with the initial chapter debuting in 2018 and the second one following suit in 2021 without charge. Now, the first two chapters have been combined with the newly released chapters 3 and 4 in this paid edition.

In contrast to Deltarune sharing several characters with Undertale, it doesn’t follow the narrative of monsters attempting to coexist with humans in the Underground as a prequel or sequel. Instead, it presents an entirely different universe with its own tale. This new story revolves around a human named Kris, a monster called Susie, and a prince referred to as Ralsei, who join forces in an effort to save their world.

Similar to Undertale, Deltarune showcases endearing pixel art created by Toby Fox’s collaborator Temmie and a combat system that leans towards bullet hell mechanics. The unique aspect is that you can opt to engage in battles or spare the enemies you encounter. Moreover, it boasts an extensive soundtrack entirely produced by Fox.

Within just a few hours of its release, Deltarune has soared to the highest positions in Steam’s rankings, boasting over 130,000 simultaneous players and more still joining. According to SteamDB data, it has even outperformed Elden Ring Nightreign by FromSoftware on the Top Sellers chart, though whether it can maintain this lead remains to be seen. It’s quite remarkable that Deltarune has managed to challenge Elden Ring Nightreign at all.

As an analyst, I am thrilled to express my anticipation for the complete launch of Toby Fox’s game, a moment that fans worldwide have eagerly looked forward to for what seems like an eternity. On a personal note, I’ve been patiently waiting for the full Deltarune release, as I believe experiencing its parallel universe to Undertale will be truly captivating once it’s ready for me to dive in.

To clarify, Deltarune isn’t finished developing yet. It has been confirmed that there will be a Chapter 5 and further updates are planned to be released for free on Steam. So, keep looking forward to more content from Toby Fox’s fascinating game design.
