Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig Crowned Miss Universe 2024 Winner

As a seasoned observer of beauty pageants and a connoisseur of the art of elegance, I must say that this year’s Miss Universe contestants have left me utterly captivated. Each woman, from the vivacious Brazilian to the graceful Filipina, has shown not only their physical charm but also their intelligence, wit, and compassion.

Miss Denmark has taken the ultimate crown.

Victoria Kjær Theilvig was crowned as the 73rd Miss Universe on November 16th at Arena CDMX in Mexico City, Mexico. At just 21 years old, this talented dancer, businesswoman, and law hopeful is the first Danish contestant to claim the title.

Chidimma Vanessa, who represented Nigeria, was the first runner-up.

124 contestants from various parts of the world competed in events such as swimwear, evening gown, and national costume contests. Ultimately, Theilvig emerged victorious and was crowned the winner of the pageant.

Before the crucial event, there was some controversy because Italy Mora, our representative from Panama, had been disqualified two weeks prior. This was due to allegations that she secretly met with her boyfriend in a hotel room against the rules, as reported by several sources.

The organization running the Miss Universe contest expressed regret on November 1st, as they announced that the representative from Panama would no longer be participating in the Miss Universe 2024 competition. This decision was made following a detailed review by their discipline committee.

The organization stated, “Regarding the upholding of our pageant’s principles and values, the disciplinary team thoroughly investigated the situation. After carefully examining all available information, they have decided that it would be best to withdraw, given the present conditions.

After Mora didn’t get replaced by another contestant for representing Panama at the Miss Universe pageant, she eventually voiced her thoughts on the matter.

She shared on social media, as reported by Hola!, that the action was taken because she failed to exit the room when requested, which she admitted happened while she was putting on makeup and gathering her belongings. Unfortunately, she had relied on and obeyed instructions without contemplating the possible repercussions.

She subsequently emphasized that she understands why the organization took the measures they did.

In an interview with La Mordida on November 8, she stated that Miss Universe abided by their regulations. She acknowledged her actions and accepted any resulting penalties.

Irina Zakharova, originally slated to represent Armenia, was removed from contention for the pageant prior to the event, as she failed to meet the specified requirements outlined in Section 8.02 of the Miss Universe Preliminary Pageant License Agreement in October.

In a statement issued on October 22nd, Miss Universe clarified that the contestant’s situation is against our National Directors’ Operational Guidelines, which specify that the titleholder must have a valid passport from the country she represents. The internal probe found out that the current titleholder was not born in Armenia, has lived outside of Armenia for the majority of her life, and does not hold dual citizenship.

Apart from Irina Zakharova, another contestant was also excluded from the competition before the pageant started. In October, Irina Zakharova, who would have represented Armenia, was disqualified due to not meeting the conditions specified in Section 8.02 of the Miss Universe Preliminary Pageant License Agreement.

The situation at hand is found to be against our National Directors’ Operations Manual regulations, as the pageant holder lacks a valid passport from the country she represents.
