In September 2024, Gege Akutami’s hit manga, “Jujutsu Kaisen,” wrapped up its storyline. This intriguing tale takes place in a realm where malevolent emotions spawn curses that pose a grave danger to mankind. Although Satoru Gojo isn’t the lead character, he has undeniably captured hearts with his captivating persona, deep concern for his pupils, and self-assured demeanor. As the most powerful sorcerer of our era, he scoffs at adversaries, effortlessly overpowering them. However, a clever plot by Kenjaku lands Gojo in the Prison Realm. Three years later, Gojo makes a comeback in the manga and engages in the series’ most spectacular battle – a clash of titans showcasing unparalleled strength.

In Chapter 236, he faces a questionable demise, sparking global fury among fans. Yet, even though Gojo enthusiasts may mourn their cherished character, they’ll find another favorite in Desscaras from Shonen Jump’s Ichi the Witch. Despite having just 18 episodes under its belt, this series has amassed a significant fanbase due to its distinctive world-creation, characters, and action scenes. The main character might be adored, but Desscaras, the Abyssal Witch, is stealing the show with her breathtaking elegance and overpowering strength.

In a different phrase, I find Desscaras strikingly similar to Gojo in terms of his strength, charisma, and badass demeanor, but he also has a bit of a jerkish side. I highly recommend you all check out the series “Ichi The Witch” (P.S: She’s not the main character of this series, much like Gojo).

Ichi the Witch’s Desscaras Is the New Shonen Sensation Just Like Jujutsu Kaisen’s Gojo

Even though Desscaras had already garnered much affection from fans during the run of Ichi the Witch, it was Chapter 18, “Desscaras the Abyssal Witch,” that truly catapulted her to greater prominence. In this chapter, she vividly showcases her immense power, reinforcing her status as one of the most powerful witches in existence. Facing off against a formidable Majik, Desscaras effortlessly dominates her adversary, while simultaneously flaunting her sophisticated spell-casting methods.

Her composed and self-assured attitude emphasizes her control, as she taunts Majik during their assault. This mirrors Gojo’s character, and viewers have noticed this connection. Moreover, during the fight, we catch glimpses of Desscaras’s enigmatic past and ties to the abyss. As the chapter concludes, Desscaras issues a secretive warning about an impending danger threatening the world before vanishing. This moment leaves both the characters and readers in a state of shock and curiosity about the trials that are yet to come.

In a similar vein to Satoru Gojo from “Jujutsu Kaisen,” Desscaras’ leadership, self-assurance, and disdainful gaze towards her adversaries share striking resemblances. Both figures possess an alluring charm and charisma that effortlessly attract fans. Her distinctive, captivating light yellow eyes mirror Gojo’s captivating sky-blue ones. It’s noteworthy to see a female character wielding such authority in a Shonen series, even overshadowing the prominent characters. Already, fans have begun referring to her as the new generation Gojo, and it’s well-deserved. While “Ichi the Witch” and “Jujutsu Kaisen” share minimal narrative connections, fans will still appreciate a fresh genre with compelling characters.

The initial edition of “Ichi the Witch” came out on January 4th, 2025, but it’s currently exclusive to Japanese readers. The English version’s release date hasn’t been disclosed yet, and it might be a couple of months away.
