When Does Devil May Cry Hit Netflix?

Devil May Cry, the highly anticipated anime series, is set to premiere globally on Netflix starting April 3rd, marking a significant addition to the Spring 2025 anime lineup. The project is helmed by Adi Shankar, who also serves as Executive Producer and Showrunner. The series will span over eight episodes upon its debut. This new adaptation of Devil May Cry is a joint venture between Shankar, Capcom, and Netflix, with animation provided by Studio MIR, the same studio behind shows like The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, The Legend of Korra. Alex Larsen serves as the writer, while Capcom’s Hideaki Itsuno and Studio MIR’s Seung Wook Lee assume Executive Producer roles.

In this animated series, we find an English voiceover lineup with talents like Johnny Yong Bosch (previously voicing Nero in the Devil May Cry video games) as Dante, Scout Taylor-Compton portraying Lady, Hoon Lee as White Rabbit, Kevin Conroy as VP Baines, and Chris Coppola giving voice to Enzo. The Japanese voice cast, for now, features Toshiyuki Morikawa as Dante, Fumiko Orikasa as Mary, and Hiroaki Hirata as Vergil. As for Evanescence’s “Afterlife,” its role in the new series is yet to be disclosed.

What Will the New Devil May Cry Be About?

Regarding Netflix and Adi Shankar’s fresh take on “Devil May Cry”, Netflix previews the upcoming animated series as follows: “In this game-inspired adaptation by Adi Shankar, dark powers are at work to merge the human and demon realms. At the heart of it is Dante, a demon-hunting mercenary who doesn’t realize that the destiny of both worlds rests upon his shoulders.” Given that characters from the initial games will be introduced in this series, it promises to be a thrilling release indeed.

Devil May Cry is establishing its own unique niche to distinguish itself from Shankar’s other works such as Castlevania and Captain Laserhawk: A Blood Dragon Remix. By emphasizing this specific period of Metal and Alternative Rock, it creates a nostalgic atmosphere while staying relevant in today’s era. If the series lives up to the promise of these exciting previews, fans are in for an enjoyable experience.
