Dexter: Resurrection confirms release date on Paramount+

The scheduled debut for the newest version of the Dexter series, titled “Dexter: Resurrection,” has been officially announced. This exciting series will premiere as a two-part event on Paramount+ starting on July 11th, this coming Friday.

In simpler terms, each new episode of the sequel series will be released every week until the final one airs on September 7th, marking the end of its ten-episode season.

In the heart of the latest news break, a tantalizing 20-second teaser was unveiled. The scene opens with a fellow holding aloft a newspaper emblazoned with the “Dexter Morgan has met his end.” But as the paper descends, I find myself staring at none other than Michael C Hall, the man who plays Dexter.

You can see the teaser below:

Currently, filming continues for the series in New York, where Hall once again takes up his leading character as the notorious serial killer, while Clyde Phillips returns as the showrunner. Previously, he was involved with the original series and its subsequent spin-offs like New Blood and Original Sin.

The series, titled “New Blood,” is a follow-up to the original show, and its plot summary hints at a storyline that resumes several weeks after Dexter is shot by his son, leaving him in a coma. Upon regaining consciousness, he finds that Harrison, played by Jack Alcott, has mysteriously vanished without leaving any clue behind.

Recognizing the burden he placed on his son, Dexter embarks on a journey to New York City in search of him, aiming to rectify past mistakes. However, finding resolution won’t be straightforward.

As Angel Batista from Miami Metro shows up with queries, Dexter recognizes that his past is swiftly closing in on him. In a city that’s always awake, both father and son delve into their own shadows, only to discover they’re in a situation far worse than they thought. It becomes clear that the solution lies in unity.

The show features Uma Thurman portraying Charley, David Zayas as Detective Angel Batista, Jack Alcott playing Dexter’s son Harrison Morgan, Ntare Guma Mbaho Mwine acting as Blessing Kamara, James Remar in the role of Dexter’s father Harry Morgan, and Peter Dinklage taking on the character of Leon Prater.

Additionally, audiences can anticipate cameos from actors such as Neil Patrick Harris portraying Lowell, Krysten Ritter as Mia, Eric Stonestreet in the role of Al, and David Dastmalchian as Gareth.

Previously, Hall clarified during an interview with Vanity Fair that Resurrection serves as a reversal of the unsatisfying conclusion in New Blood. Meanwhile, Phillips hinted at his aspirations for more Dexter projects to be unveiled over extended periods.

I wholeheartedly agree with Hall’s perspective; it’s not about revisiting for a standalone sequel, but keeping the door open for more adventures. The aspiration, and wish, is for the tale to unfold further, extending its narrative beyond the current chapter.
