Dexter: Resurrection May Connect to Original Sin in an Interesting Way

It seems that the upcoming series Dexter: Resurrection could establish a link to the prequel series Dexter: Original Sin. The long-awaited return of Dexter, portrayed by Michael C. Hall, is nearly upon us, as we are only a few weeks away from the premiere of Dexter: Resurrection, a new sequel show which will reanimate the beloved serial killer character. In the final episode of Dexter: New Blood, Dexter was fatally shot by his own son, marking a sad end to his life. However, it appears that both the audience and Hall himself weren’t ready to say goodbye completely, as he reportedly requested the writers to devise a means for him to return.

While Paramount was eager to continue Dexter’s story in a unique manner, they decided to do so by creating the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin”. This series takes us back to the 90s, where we see Dexter committing his first murders and learning his father’s code. It’s a nostalgic trip, reminiscent of the original show with its familiar Miami setting, music, and Dexter working within the police department. The show is engaging and could potentially have a long run, especially as it sets the stage for future seasons of “Dexter: Resurrection”. Interestingly enough, there’s a connection between the two series.

The structure of the series “Dexter: Original Sin” serves as a precursor to “Resurrection,” with Dexter’s life memories unfolding in a hospital emergency room after being wounded. This setup hints at Dexter’s survival and potential return. However, “Dexter: Resurrection” might link back to “Original Sin” in a fresh manner. As observed by Dexter Daily, the actor who portrays young Dexter, Eli Sherman, appears in a new promotional video for “Resurrection,” but this isn’t old footage.

In a shipping container, he’s found soaked in blood, making phone calls reminiscent of Dexter’s early days. Meanwhile, Dexter and Harry are nearby, with the container doors opening, hinting that this scene might be a dream rather than a flashback.

As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I can’t contain my excitement for the unexpected twists that await in #DexterResurrection! The thrill begins on July 11, right here on Paramount Plus with the SHOWTIME Plan.

It’s yet to be determined if there are more substantial links to Dexter: Original Sin. The series has already hinted at ties to the original program through Dexter: Resurrection, as Angel Batista takes a significant role in investigating Dexter’s past. Additionally, this installment is expected to include appearances by John Lithgow, Jimmy Smits, and others, making it an enjoyable journey through different versions of Dexter’s story.

Dexter: Resurrection will premiere on July 11th.
