Dexter: Resurrection Set to Bring Back Iconic Miami Scenes!

In a reported development, it seems that the revival of “Dexter: Resurrection” might revisit a well-known location from the original show. Known for its gripping drama, captivating characters, and complex moral dilemmas, “Dexter” is a television phenomenon. The series, which ran from 2006 to 2013 over eight seasons, was predominantly set in vibrant Miami. This location played a significant role in the show, much like any character, as the Cuban music, diverse cast, and city’s intense heat were all authentically portrayed in the serial killer drama. The setting felt comfortably familiar to fans when they revisited it in the recent prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin”.

In contrast to the original series, the sequel “Dexter: New Blood” shifted its location from Miami to a snowy, fictional town named Iron Lake, upstate New York. This change was intended to provide a stark contrast and present new obstacles for the character Dexter Morgan. Interestingly, it has been revealed that future series “Dexter: Resurrection” will bring Dexter back to New York City, placing him in another new and challenging environment.

Dexter: Resurrection Will Include Miami Scenes

It appears that the upcoming series “Dexter: Resurrection” might feature a comeback of Miami locations, as suggested by the casting call for Latino and Latina actors to play extras at a Miami lounge, despite filming taking place in Manhattan, New York. The scenes could potentially be shot on a soundstage. Given that Angel Batista is confirmed to return as a series regular character in the ten-episode revival, it’s possible we might see flashbacks of Dexter’s time in Miami or even other familiar characters making an appearance, possibly summoned by Angel or even Dexter himself.

There’s a strong possibility that much-loved character Joey Quinn could make a comeback in Dexter: Resurrection. It’s speculated that he might often be found in a Miami bar or lounge. However, the exact fate of the detective since Deb’s demise remains unclear. Actor Desmond Harrington has been evasive when questioned about his potential involvement in the follow-up series. Interestingly, while the original show was based in Miami, subsequent scenes (except for a few exterior shots) were actually filmed around Long Beach, California.

In a similar manner, “New Blood” took a trip down memory lane to Miami. While most of the scenes were set indoors, an exterior shot featuring a building with a circus-like atmosphere was filmed in Massachusetts. This isn’t the first time another location stood in for Miami in the series. It’s plausible that a separate filming team is currently capturing new exterior shots in Miami, but this hasn’t been confirmed yet. Regardless, it promises to be exciting to revisit Miami again. Not much information has been revealed about “Dexter: Resurrection” at this point, but it will feature Peter Dinklage as the antagonist, Uma Thurman as his trusted ally, and James Remar returning as Harry Morgan. Additionally, Jack Alcott will reprise his role from “Dexter: New Blood” as a teenage Harrison Morgan.

The series appears to continue with Dexter Morgan’s storyline after he recovers in a hospital following a nearly fatal gunshot wound. It appears that he may escape from police custody and endeavor to reunite with his son in New York City, which could lead to numerous complications. Whispers suggest that Showtime has plans for several seasons of Dexter: Resurrection, so viewers might see Michael C. Hall reprise his role as the adored serial killer within another year or two if everything falls into place. At this moment, fans can only be patient and wait for the premiere of Dexter: Resurrection this summer.
