Back in the day, only a few key TV shows would rotate on major networks, making it easier for everyone to catch up each week. Shows like “Dexter,” which held the top spot during fall television lineups in the late 2000s and early 2010s, are now overshadowed by streaming services that demand a constant flow of content to keep their audiences entertained.
After Dexter concluded in 2013, Showtime entered the streaming world later and decided to revive their popular show for a spin-off titled Dexter: New Blood. This mini-series broke viewership and subscriber records for Showtime, but it also might have caused some second thoughts. In New Blood, Dexter Morgan was killed off, yet fans returned to watch Michael C. Hall’s portrayal of the serial killer. However, they were left enraged when his character was shot dead at the end of the season. To keep the franchise alive, Paramount and Showtime came up with a prequel series called Dexter: Original Sin, as well as another sequel titled Dexter: Resurrection, which brings back Michael C. Hall’s character from the dead.

Dexter Spin-Offs Reportedly in the Works at Paramount
Based on trustworthy tip-off from DanielRPK, who has accurately revealed details about Dexter: Resurrection, it appears that Paramount, the owners of Showtime, are considering creating additional spin-offs within the Dexter franchise. Although specifics haven’t been finalized yet, DanielRPK mentioned that potential prequels and spin-offs centered around characters from Dexter: Resurrection are being considered as possible starting points. A Dexter spin-off focusing on the Trinity Killer was previously announced by Showtime and would feature John Lithgow narrating, similar to Michael C. Hall in Original Sin. However, progress on this project seems to have slowed down, but it’s said to still be ongoing.
Originally, a series focusing on Harrison after the finale of “Dexter: New Blood” was proposed, but that idea was abandoned to revive Dexter in “Resurrection”. Nevertheless, Harrison is anticipated to have a prominent part in the upcoming series, and there may be future plans for another spin-off featuring him. Interestingly, “Dexter: Resurrection” is rumored to be a multi-season project, which makes it unlikely that Harrison would depart from the main storyline. However, it’s not impossible that we could see character arcs for Angel Batista returning in “Dexter: Resurrection”, or perhaps new characters like Uma Thurman and Peter Dinklage’s roles.
