Annoyed by using his own identity, Dexter decides to hunt and eliminate this killer. He disguises himself as a rideshare driver to attract the suspect, eventually trapping him. However, during the encounter, the killer uses a wire saw from the backseat to threaten Dexter, attempting to strangle him and drive away for a more secluded location. But Dexter was prepared, managing to overpower ‘The Dark Passenger’ and knock him unconscious.

Indeed, this event marks the first kill in the new season for Dexter, and it shares many similarities with his initial killing spree. It’s not just the setting or the name that mirrors his past; The Dark Passenger, a character we encounter, bears a striking resemblance to Dexter himself. They share a similar physique and facial characteristics, causing some characters to humorously comment about how Dexter could pass for this individual.

It’s quite a stretch, but there’s a chance that the murder in question could symbolize a significant transformation for Dexter. In simpler terms, when Dexter killed The Dark Passenger, it was like he was symbolically eliminating his old self while physically removing a dangerous killer from the streets. By destroying this near-twin, he’s releasing his inner darkness and embracing a more heroic and less villainous persona. It seems that in this act of killing, Dexter is also killing off a piece of his actual Dark Passenger. However, it’s important to note that Dexter remains a serial killer, so there will always be an element of darkness within him. Yet, he appears to be moving forward with a newfound determination and sense of righteousness.
