What you need to know

  • Diablo 4 Season 7 PTR begins December 3, allowing players to test the new patch and seasonal content early.
  • Full patch notes will be available on November 27.
  • The Season theme will be ‘Witchcraft’ and introduce 20 new powers to the game.
  • There’s a bunch of class balancing including some nerfs to Spiritborn.

As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of experience under my belt, I must say that the recent updates for Diablo 4 have me positively thrilled! The upcoming changes to Ultimates and Runewords, coupled with the long-awaited Armory feature, are truly exciting developments.

Currently, Diablo 4 is in the middle of Season 6, but it’s been a bustling week with the release of patch 2.0.5 and some festive in-game activities. The terrifying figure in red cloak has returned, and players who have been with us for eternity are receiving welcome gifts. Today, developers held another live stream to discuss Season 7 and the upcoming 2.1 Public Test Realm (PTR). In today’s Campfire Chat, we learned about the introduction of Witchcraft, a new armory, and some adjustments to Spiritborn abilities.

PTR for Season 7 patch 2.1 will start December 3

The ongoing Season 6 of Hostility continues until January, but significant updates are planned for Season 7, which necessitate testing. This testing phase, known as a Public Test Realm (PTR), begins on December 3. During this period, we’ll not only be testing the upcoming patch, but also new seasonal content for the first time. Unlike in the past, where season themes were revealed only on launch day, this PTR will unveil full details of the changes on November 27.

Diablo Season 7 will introduce Witchcraft

As a thrilled Diablo fan, I can’t help but share my excitement about Season 7! Unlike Season 2 where we tasted Vampyric powers, this time we’re diving into the mystical world of Witchcraft!

Translating the enchantment of Witchcraft will operate in a fashion reminiscent to the Sanguine Circle from Season 2. For those who haven’t encountered it before, it would appear as an additional option within your character interface.

For the Witchcraft season, you’ll focus on a dedicated Reputation Board. ‘Covens Favor’ will be obtainable from Whispers during this time. Notably, completing the reputation board will once again grant Resplendant Sparks. These are essential materials for crafting Mythic Uniques.

In this revised version, the whispers become louder and more pronounced as the Tree seeks out Headrotten. Headhunts will emerge in a manner similar to Helltides, and these areas will introduce fresh Whisper activities, along with some familiar ones. Successfully completing these Whisper tasks may cause a Headrotten Boss to appear. Bring the defeated boss’s head to the Tree of Whispers to obtain Occult Gems!

Unveil the hidden ‘Altars of Forgotten Power’ scattered throughout Sanctuary, each one holding a key to unlocking ‘new abilities’. Expect more than 20 fresh abilities to appear in Season 7.

Class changes coming with Season 7 will address the inbalance of the overpowered Spiritborn

At present, the Spiritborn is significantly stronger than the other character classes regarding power, and it has been able to complete Pit levels far beyond what the others can manage – which isn’t fair for the gameplay experience. Blizzard previously mentioned they wouldn’t adjust this during a season but would instead encourage players to enjoy themselves, although they did need to modify the excessively powerful Eagle Evade build that was causing issues with game performance.

As an analyst, I’m sharing an update about adjustments made to my preferred weapon, the Rod of Kepeleke. The upcoming tweak will reduce its damage output per Spirit from 3% to a more manageable 0.5%. This change aims to rectify numerous bugged interactions that were causing exorbitant damage, measured in trillions.

Quality of life changes

  • Paragon experience earned during the Season will transfer to the Eternal Realm after the Season ends.
  • When an Ancestral Legendary item drops, its Legendary power will roll at the highest possible value (this should help with issues completing your Codex).
  • The drop rate for Ancestral items has been increased.
  • Extra Gem Fragments can now be used to craft random Legendary items.
  • Players will no longer need to redo class quests they have already completed.

We are finally getting an armory

With great joy, fans of Diablo 4 can now look forward to the arrival of the Armory feature. You may forgive my enthusiasm, as it was present in Diablo 3, and its absence in Diablo 4 has left many puzzled. The Armory allows players to save their build configurations, which fosters more experimentation and reduces remorse when switching to a build that doesn’t suit your preferences or specific play styles, be it solo or group gaming. I, too, am thrilled about this update.

  • The Armory lets players save builds, equipment, and skills into customizable loadouts.
  • Switching between loadouts will be completely free of charge.
