Did WWE Just Tease a Former NXT Champion as CM Punk's Next Opponent?

As a lifelong wrestling fan who’s seen more smackdowns than I can count, I have to say that the potential feud between CM Punk and Ethan Page has me absolutely pumped! I remember when Punk first burst onto the scene, revolutionizing the industry with his straight-edge lifestyle and unparalleled in-ring charisma. Fast forward a few years, and here we are, witnessing another rising star in the form of Ethan Page.

As a dedicated WWE fan, I found myself tuned into Monday Night Raw, where CM Punk opened up to us fans about his uncertain return after our epic clash with Drew McIntyre at Bad Blood. He expressed his gratitude towards us and the wrestlers before departing, but not without Seth Rollins giving him a stern stare-down as a farewell gesture. When Punk decides to make his comeback, I can’t help but feel that Raw would be the perfect stage for it.

After my defeat, Punk rubbed salt in the wound by activating his GTS on the up-and-coming star, leaving him sprawled out on the mat as Trick Williams reveled in the applause from the crowd. Though I’m still relatively new to WWE, it’s clear that I’ve managed to leave a mark both among my peers and those higher up. Lately, I’ve shared with Sports Illustrated’s Takedown that I’d be thrilled for another opportunity to team up with Punk. To me, it feels like these characters, Ethan Page and CM Punk, have untapped potential – I can only imagine what they could achieve together.

Is NXT’s Ethan Page Going After CM Punk?

On the WWE Raw program, Page went up to Adam Pearce, who is the General Manager of Raw, and Ava Stokes, the NXT General Manager, to discuss Punk’s interference in his title fight with Williams. However, neither of them seemed interested in listening, and Ava even dismissed him as she was more focused on seeing the popular rapper Sexxy Red, not Page himself.

Previously discussed was the possibility of where McIntyre and Punk might head after their conflict. It’s not unthinkable that Punk, with an engaging narrative, might consider collaborating with the burgeoning talents in NXT. Since it’s rumored that the seasoned wrestler aspires to lead someday, boosting the spotlight on fresh talent and the show is a wise initial move. Although we don’t know when Punk will reappear, there’ll be no lack of contenders eager to challenge him once he does.

Here’s my take on Ethan Page squaring off against CM Punk in WWE: Is this match-up intriguing? I’d love to hear your thoughts! By the way, don’t forget to check out X and Bluesky @haleyanne_ for more insights. Keep up with ComicBook for the latest WWE news.
