As Sean “Diddy” Combs’ trial unfolds, details are emerging about his alleged “freak offs.”

On May 13th, Cassie Ventura, who had an on-again, off-again relationship with Combs lasting a decade up until 2018 and was pregnant at the time, narrated her account of the intimate interactions during her testimony.

In the early stages of our relationship, he suggested a type of sexual activity called voyeurism, which included having a third party involved. This would involve hiring an escort, creating a scenario where I could perform for him. The act involved Sean observing me with this other person, and he would guide us on what to do.

Regarding the question about who supervised the recruitment of those escorts, Ventura stated, “Ultimately, the task fell on my shoulders as I had the necessary connections to arrange everything, including the setup within the hotel room. Initially, however, Sean was responsible for setting things up.

Over time, she explained that these sexual encounters felt like a profession. “I didn’t have room for anything else,” she stated. “Days turned into nights, consumed by substances, alcohol, and intimate moments with strangers, it could be 36 hours, 48 hours, even 72 hours.” She continued, “The longest one lasted four days, not counting the recovery periods, recovery from drugs, dehydration.

The performer, who’s about to welcome their third child with spouse Alex Fine, also reminisced about her feelings during that period.

At that point in time, she was 22 years old, and she acknowledged it with a remark. Her stomach fluttered with apprehension. She didn’t understand how that would be appealing, yet she took on the role willingly. She felt bewildered, anxious, but also held a deep affection for him, desiring to bring joy to his life.

She went on to say, “I wasn’t eager about this activity, especially not as frequently as it turned out to be, but since I was in love and wanted to bring joy to him, I felt compelled. At a certain point, I didn’t feel like I had many options left. I wasn’t sure what ‘no’ might lead to.

She observed that in many aspects of her life—career, intimacy, and so on—she had little control. Being very young, she was unsure if he might become violent or lose interest if she didn’t comply. Over the course of time, she feared these potential consequences.

During her statement, Ventura further claimed that Combs coerced her into taking part in the “freak offs” by presenting her with authentic recordings and images documenting their intimate interactions with the escort.

She mentioned, “I had this lingering suspicion that I might get hurt by him.” Sean, she said, was quite divisive. He was extremely charismatic, making it difficult to discern his true intentions when he expressed his desires in the moment. In essence, she admitted she wasn’t certain about the potential outcomes.

Combs is currently facing allegations that include racketeering, forced sex trafficking, fraudulent activities, coercion, and transporting individuals for the purpose of prostitution. However, he has vehemently denied all these charges.

Cassie Ventura shared with prosecutors on May 13 that during the early stages of her ten-year romance with Sean “Diddy” Combs, he suggested incorporating voyeurism into their intimate life. This started when she arranged for an escort to join them, enabling her to perform in front of Combs while another person was present.

Eventually, she said, orchestrating these sex performances “became a job” for her. 

She remembered, “I arranged for it to happen in our hotel room, among other things, at first Sean had organized it.

Ventura said that her “stomach churned” when he first proposed the experience.

She admitted she didn’t initially understand how it would arouse him, but she took on the task. To put it mildly, she was baffled, apprehensive, yet deeply cared for him and desired his happiness. It wasn’t her first choice or something she wanted to do frequently, but given her affection for him, she found herself doing it more often.

She admitted, “At some point, I felt I didn’t have much of a choice.”

During their on-again, off-again relationship spanning from 2007 to 2018, Ventura claimed that Combs often exhibited violent behavior towards her.

She told the jury that, indeed, their discussions often escalated into intense altercations that frequently led to acts of physical violence. Specifically, he would forcefully strike my head, push me down, drag me across the floor, and even kick me.

She mentioned that her injuries were frequently noticeable, explaining, “I’d develop lumps on my forehead, have swollen eyes – black and red – and sport bruises across my entire body.

On May 13th, when Daniel Philip was set to testify, Ventura’s legal team asked to have her seated in the witness stand prior to the jury’s arrival, as she is eight months pregnant.

Defense attorney Marc Agnifilo stated to the judge, “I believe there’s a biased aspect here,” expressing that pregnancy holds a captivating beauty and can evoke empathy.

It was made clear later on that Ventura had joined the case only after the jury had already been selected, suggesting that his legal team’s motion had been denied earlier.

On one particular instance when Ventura didn’t immediately respond to Combs’ call, as testified by Philip on May 12th, Combs allegedly hurled a bottle of liquor in her proximity, subsequently grabbed her by the hair and pulled her into the bedroom. According to Philip, she was shouting at the time, and from another room, it sounded like he was striking her. Philip also claimed that he heard Combs say something along the lines of “I told you to come here, you come here now, not later.

Phillip said he was “terrified” and did not intervene.

He also stated that he had heard an incident where it appeared to him that Combs was physically abusing Ventura in another occurrence at the Essex House hotel in New York. “I overheard her saying ‘I’m sorry, I’m sorry,’ and it seemed like someone was being hit and thrown about inside the room,” Philip explained. “Peeking around the corner, I witnessed Mr. Combs exiting the hotel completely, possibly only draped with a towel.

I, being in the presence of Ventura, exited the room and found myself seated on Philip’s lap. In his own words, he shared, “She made an effort to reassure me that ‘everything will be fine’ and ‘I’ll get through this,'” but I responded, “Things are not alright as you need professional assistance.

“I tried to explain to her that she was in real danger if she stayed with him,” Phillip said.

In response to a question from prosecutor Maureen Comey about why he didn’t contact the authorities, Philip explained his reasoning by stating that he viewed Combs as an individual with immense power, implying that even if he had reported the situation to the police, there was a possibility that he might still have faced danger.

Daniel Philip, who claimed he was managing a male dance show during the stated period, testified that he received “a few thousand dollars” for engaging in sexual activities with Ventura, while Combs observed at Manhattan’s Gramercy Hotel in 2012. Philip identified Combs by his voice despite him wearing a robe, a baseball cap, and a bandanna concealing his face.

Ventura compensated him and mentioned that she would give him a tip upon leaving, as per Philip’s statement to the court. Later on, they engaged in sexual activity, applied baby oil on each other for a short while. Combs was observed in a corner, pleasuring himself.

Afterward, the witness continued, Ventura gave him “a couple of thousand more.”

Over the course of the following year, Philip claimed he was approached on numerous occasions for similar experiences, not just limited to hotels but also at the residences of both Ventura and Combs in New York City. He alleged that Combs videotaped him and Ventura during one or two intimate encounters, and on certain instances, Combs would interfere and engage in sexual activities with Ventura while Philip was present.

In a lawsuit filed in 2023, Ventura claimed that her former partner, Combs, compelled her into having sexual relations with male escorts.

According to Florez’s testimony, Ventura appeared frightened. She huddled in the corner, with her hood pulled over her head and her body concealed. Her face wasn’t visible, and she remained mostly tucked away in the corner. A shattered flower vase was on the floor nearby.

After Ventura departed from the hotel, Florez stated that she had a noticeable purple eye. Later on, when she was no longer there, Florez and the hotel manager went up to speak with Combs about the hotel’s rules. According to Florez, Combs believed the manager was secretly recording him using his phone and attempted to take it. When Combs then tried to seize Florez’s own phone, Florez said he restrained Combs against a wall. Florez testified that they assured Combs they were not recording him and diffused the situation peacefully.

In court, they presented the slowed-down surveillance footage of an incident that transpired back in May 2024, which initially was published by CNN. Previously, the defense had questioned the authenticity of this clip, suggesting it might have been sped up, thus exaggerating the violence involved. However, in this trial, they presented a more realistic, slower version for the jury to consider. Furthermore, additional footage was displayed, captured by Florez on his cell phone when he responded to a distress call on the sixth floor. This footage offers valuable insights into the situation, helping us all gain a clearer understanding of the events that unfolded.

Florez stated that he chose not to contact the police right away since Ventura refused to provide details about the incident and indicated she merely wished to depart.

Officer Israel Florez, who served with the Los Angeles Police Department, had previously worked as a security guard at the InterContinental Hotel. It was during this time that the incident involving Combs and Ventura occurred on March 5, 2016. In her opening statement, Geragos described the surveillance footage of the attack – initially released by CNN in May 2024 – as substantial evidence of domestic violence. However, he clarified that it was not primarily related to allegations of sex trafficking; rather, it stemmed from infidelity discovered on a cell phone.

On May 12th, Florez stated that he witnessed signs of a scuffle on the day under investigation, and subsequently, Combs allegedly gave him a pile of cash to disregard what had happened.

In response to questioning, Florez stated that he was completely convinced the gesture was Combs attempting to offer a bribe.

In her initial remarks, the defense attorney, Teny Geragos, asserted that the prosecution was attempting to transform consensual sexual activities into a case of sex trafficking. However, she expressed confidence that their strategy would ultimately fail.

“Sean Combs is a complicated man,” she said, “but this is not a complicated case.”

Speaking here as a die-hard fan, let me clarify something: I’m not one to pry, but the matter at hand seems to revolve around the private, intimate aspects of Sean Combs’ personal life. However, it’s crucial to understand that this has no bearing on his legitimate business endeavors.

She informed the court that her client exhibited aggressive behavior, used illicit substances, and had anger management problems. During the trial, it’s important to remember that while you might find him unpleasant or rude, he is not on trial for being unkind or obnoxious. Instead, he stands accused of other offenses.

Geragos stated, “The proof will reveal an imperfect person, however, it won’t demonstrate a racketeer, a human trafficker, or someone involved in transporting for prostitution.

The prosecutor, Emily Johnson, alleged that Combs had employed a vast system of workers to perform unlawful activities, including extended “freak offs,” as outlined in the federal indictment, based on the report of NBC News journalists present in the courtroom.

She informed the court that on occasion, he referred to himself as a king and demanded special treatment. His businesses were allegedly employed to coerce women into sexual acts involving male escorts, while he observed. It was also suggested that he and his close associates ensured all his desires were fulfilled.

Johnson commenced her presentation to the jury by portraying Combs as an extraordinarily influential figure who oversaw a criminal organization.

Johnson emphasized an instance of the suspected wrongdoing to the jury, stating that the founder of Bad Boys Record was “pursuing” Ventura one evening following the news of her entering into a romantic relationship with another person. According to Johnson, Combs allegedly assaulted her severely, kicking her in the back and tossing her around recklessly after discovering her.

He made a threat, telling her that if she disobeys him once more, he would expose videos showing her involved in intimate acts with male escorts – moments that would serve as reminders of the most shameful nights of her existence,” she went on.

The prosecutor alleged that Combs’ inner circle covered up “crime after crime.”

The leading judge, Arun Subramanian, expressed his belief to the jury that the trial might wrap up by the 4th of July. He voiced his hope that it would indeed finish by then, though he admitted that it could extend beyond that date, but he doesn’t anticipate it will.

On the opening day of his sex trafficking trial on May 12th, his mother, Janice Combs, and six of his oldest children were by his side.

The children of Kim Porter, who was previously married to him (Quincy Brown, Christian “King” Combs, Jessie Combs, and D’Lila Combs), as well as Justin Combs, son of Misa Hylton (a previous relationship), and Chance Combs, daughter of Sarah Chapman (another ex-partner), all had the opportunity to give their father a warm embrace before he sat down with his lawyers.

Both the prosecution and Chris Combs’ legal team consented to have twelve jurors – six men and six women, along with six male and three female alternates, for the duration of the trial.

Marc Agnifilo, representing Combs, asserted that the prosecution appeared to be deliberately excluding potential Black jurors. He expressed his concern that this could lead to a discernible pattern, and emphasized that reasons should be provided for these dismissals.

To set the record straight, I passionately contest those allegations. Let me clarify that our actions have been impartial all along. The jury we’ve assembled is a testament to diversity, boasting several panelists who aren’t white.

The jury consists of twelve individuals, some residing in New York City and others in Westchester. Among them are a 69-year-old male actor who also practices massage therapy, a 31-year-old male investment analyst, a 51-year-old male scientist, a 30-year-old female deli clerk, a 42-year-old female nursing home aide, a 41-year-old male communications clerk at a correctional facility, a 68-year-old retired banker, another 68-year-old retiree from the telecommunications industry, a 43-year-old female physician assistant, a 39-year-old male social worker, a 67-year-old male logistics analyst, and a 74-year-old female treatment coordinator.
