In response to a question from prosecutor Maureen Comey about why he didn’t contact the police, Philip stated that he perceived Combs as having immense influence, and there was a possibility that, even if he had reported the matter to the authorities, his life might still have been at risk.

Daniel Philip claimed that during the specified period, he was operating a male stripper show. He testified that he received around several thousand dollars for engaging in sexual activities with Ventura, while Combs observed at Manhattan’s Gramercy Hotel in 2012. Florez continued, stating that they assured him they weren’t recording, and the situation was de-escalated peacefully.

As a diligent observer, I was presented with the slowed-down version of the security footage depicting the incident, which had initially been published by CNN in May 2024. Previously, it had been alleged by the defense that this footage was sped up, thus exaggerating the intensity of the altercation. Furthermore, I was given a video recording made by Florez on his phone, when he attended to a distress call on the sixth floor.

According to Florez, he chose not to contact the police immediately since Ventura refused to discuss what had occurred and simply wanted to depart.

Back in 2016, Israel Florez, a police officer in Los Angeles, worked as a security guard at the InterContinental Hotel. It was during this time that Combs allegedly assaulted Ventura on March 5th. In her initial statement, Geragos referred to the surveillance footage of the attack (initially released by CNN in May 2024) as “compelling evidence of domestic violence”, but he clarified later that it was more about infidelity found on a cell phone and not related to sex trafficking.

On May 12th, Florez stated under oath that he observed signs of a dispute during the specified day, and Combs allegedly handed him a wad of cash to ignore the incident.

During questioning, Florez asserted that he was completely convinced the gesture was an attempt by Combs to offer him a bribe.
