It appears that the game Digimon Story Time Stranger will limit its screen refresh rate to only 30 updates per second on console platforms, which includes PlayStation 5.
Over the past weekend, discontent about the latest news has resonated among fans, particularly since Bandai Namco announced the game’s technical details on Friday.
The game, Time Stranger, appears to be an improvement over past Digimon Story titles, particularly the Cyber Sleuth series, in graphics. However, its quality doesn’t seem to demand the capabilities of current-generation gaming systems.
Additionally, it seems that the 30fps limit also applies to the PS5 Pro model, suggesting a deliberate choice made by the development team.
Although this news has left us puzzled, it’s important to recall that Time Stranger, much like its predecessors, is a strategy role-playing game (RPG) where turns are taken instead of real-time action. High frame rates aren’t essential in such games as they primarily involve clicking through menus and navigating relatively simple environments.
Regrettably, despite the enticing glimpses we’ve had of Digimon Story Time Stranger thus far, it seems to have found itself burdened with negative sentiments as its launch approaches on October 3rd. It will need to shed this negativity in order to maintain its promising start.
