As a long-time Digimon fan who grew up with the original series back in ’99, I can hardly contain my excitement for what’s to come! The franchise has been a significant part of my childhood and has continued to captivate me throughout the years. The upcoming New York Comic Con panel featuring Hiromi Seki, producer of Digimon Adventure 01 and 02, is a dream come true for fans like me.
Since its debut on TV screens in 1999, the world of Digimon has significantly impacted anime culture. Across various mediums like anime, video games, movies, merchandise, manga, and more, these digital creatures have undergone numerous transformations. Interestingly, no new Digimon anime projects have been unveiled since the end of Digimon Ghost Game’s TV series in 2023 and the release of the movie, Digimon Adventure 02: The Beginning, during the same year. However, there appears to be some positive movement as the franchise is set to make a significant announcement about its future at New York Comic-Con next month.
In essence, Comic Cons traditionally center around popular franchises like Marvel, DC, and other studios trying to captivate attendees both on-site and online. However, in recent times, anime and animation have been making a more significant impact at events such as the New York Comic Con through unique panels, events, and celebrity appearances. This year’s NYCC won’t just see Digimon making an appearance, but also Dragon Ball Daima with its own special panel coming up next month. Notable properties like Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War, The Lord of The Rings: The War of The Rohirrim, and more are also scheduled to attend. Additionally, Crunchyroll and Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim have events lined up to reveal some surprising anime news.
Digimon’s Future: New York Comic Con
Mark your calendars for October 17th at 3:30 PM Eastern, as New York Comic Con will host an exclusive panel dedicated to the Digimon series. The special guest attending this event will be Hiromi Seki, the producer of both Digimon Adventure 01 and 02. Fans can look forward to hearing hints about the franchise’s future directly from Ms. Seki. Toei Animation has announced that this panel will offer insights into the upcoming Digimon Adventure series.

Will Digimon Adventure Continue?
2020 saw the launch of a remake of the classic anime series “Digimon Adventure,” serving as an introduction for many new anime enthusiasts to the franchise. This modern take follows Tai and his Digi-Destined companions, who are transported into the digital world. The reboot maintains the essence of the original while incorporating fresh events. As of now, there’s no confirmation about a continuation; however, given the wealth of material from the initial series, fans of digital monsters are speculating that New York Comic Con could be an ideal platform to reveal any upcoming developments in this remake.
The Digimon 25th Anniversary Event
As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to share some exciting news about my beloved Digimon! Although not directly linked with New York Comic Con, the franchise is planning a significant celebration next year. In January 2025, we’ll be marking a monumental milestone – twenty-five years of the digital world!
