Discover JoJo’s Most Overlooked Stands That Pack a Hidden Punch!

Characters’ unique, supernatural powers known as “Stands” are one of the primary reasons why JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure has become a standout among Shonen Jump’s greatest manga. This straightforward idea had a significant impact—it quickly caught on and was utilized in other forms of media, such as in the Nen beasts from Hunter x Hunter and the Personas from Persona. Araki used Stands as a creative means to express a character’s personality, not only through the abilities of the Stand but also in how its user wields it.

In the community, several Stands are famed for their immense power but are disappointingly portrayed. Okuyasu’s The Hand is one such case – it’s a powerful super-punch with a limitation based on its user’s intelligence (or lack thereof). Yet, many other powerful or significant Stands have gone unnoticed for various reasons like poorly designed battles, inadequate strategies from their users, or a myriad of other issues.

Narancia’s Aerosmith (Part 5: Golden Wind)

In comparison to other remarkable Stands like Sticky Fingers and Moody Blues, Aerosmith from Golden Wind tends to be overshadowed. However, this doesn’t diminish its power or usefulness, as Aerosmith is among the most potent Stands in the series. Unfortunately, it often gets overlooked due to its straightforward concept.

Equipped with unlimited ammunition mimicking real bullets, a radar capable of identifying both friend and foe based on carbon dioxide emissions in their breath, and a bomb equivalent to a grenade for instant deployment, Aerosmith is an adaptable and formidable combat ally. Its extensive range enables Narancia to maintain distance and take down targets with precision and safety.

Rohan’s Heaven’s Door (Part 4: Diamond is Unbreakable)

Rohan Kishibe is an exceptionally gifted manga artist, as demonstrated by his extraordinary ability called Heaven’s Door. Essentially, this supernatural power operates like a god-mode, imposing minimal restrictions on Rohan. He has the power to delve into a person’s life and create events in reality as memories. Notably, he concludes his battle with Cheap Trick by writing that, despite his denial of its existence, the Stand is fated for hell. This action has sparked an entertaining fan theory suggesting that Rohan himself may have created hell with this action.

In recent times, The Stand has been basking in more limelight, particularly with the debut of the JoJo spinoff “Thus Spoke Rohan Kishibe,” where it frequently steals the show. However, despite Rohan’s aloof, elusive, and honorable demeanor, this Stand’s true destructive potential remains hidden. Upon closer inspection of its capabilities, it becomes evident that Heaven’s Door could indeed be a formidable source of terror.

Joseph’s Hermit Purple (Part 3: Stardust Crusaders)

In the anime “Battle Tendency,” Joseph Joestar skillfully employs Hamon in unique ways, paving the way for his creation of Hermit Purple – a remarkable, versatile power that manifests as purple vines capable of conducting Hamon energy. The enigmatic Hermit Purple is endowed with extraordinary powers: it initiates the storyline of “Stardust Crusaders” via its limited long-distance communication; it demonstrates both destructive and healing properties through Hamon on multiple occasions; and it even shows potential in manipulating game controllers and computer systems. Hermit Purple’s influence can be felt wherever energy exerts an impact.

Discussing entertaining fan speculations, even Hermit Purple isn’t left out from having its own share of intriguing theories. For instance, due to its vague boundaries, some fans postulate that Joseph might utilize it to channel Hamon after battles and aid his fellow Crusaders in their recovery before confronting the next antagonist of the week. It’s not hard to suggest that Hermit Purple is as potent as the Hamon user who wields it, given how powerful those users can be.

Sale’s Kraft Work (Part 5: Golden Wind)

JoJo’s Stand abilities, such as Yasuho’s Paisley Park in Jojolion and Dio Brando’s Whitesnake from Stone Ocean, are among the few utility-focused Stands that can rival Kraft Work. Interestingly, Kraft Work is not associated with a main character, unlike the others mentioned. This Stand grants the user the power to manipulate kinetic energy freely.

Any substance can temporarily halt its motion by storing kinetic energy; this energy can also be increased, stored, or removed from any material. Objects can also be joined together, causing them to grow in mass and potentially become powerful projectiles. This might seem excessively potent, and indeed it is. The power of Kraft Work resembles a protagonist’s ability rather than a secondary character like Sale’s.

Blackmore’s Catch the Rainbow (Part 7: Steel Ball Run)

There’s no accident that Blackmore’s “Catch the Rainbow” shares a resemblance with Jodio’s “November Rain,” but it’s important to note that while “Catch the Rainbow” has fewer powers, both stories revolve around harnessing rain as a powerful tool. In the world of “Catch the Rainbow,” Blackmore is nearly invincible when it rains. He can halt rainfall, walk on it, merge with it, and even use it to heal himself or convey messages. Additionally, “Catch the Rainbow” offers a wide range of practical applications, from healing wounds to communicating via rain.

From my perspective, it’s awe-inspiring to witness Blackmore’s unique ability, transforming ordinary raindrops into lethal blades. Moreover, the rain itself is capable of drilling holes that can prove deadly. However, due to Steel Ball Run being confined to manga format and its fights often becoming lengthy, it hasn’t received the recognition it deserves. Nevertheless, Blackmore’s Stand remains one of the many fascinating Stands I believe will elevate Steel Ball Run to become JoJo’s most captivating anime adaptation.

Jolyne’s Stone Free (Part 6: Stone Ocean)

In the series “Stardust Crusaders,” Jotaro Kujo established a notable pattern for main characters and their powerful Stands, with Star Platinum demonstrating immense strength from the get-go. This pattern continued with Josuke’s Crazy Diamond and Giorno’s Gold Experience. Initially, in “Stone Ocean,” it might seem that Stone Free is weaker compared to these Stand abilities. However, it’s significant because it’s the first instance where a protagonist’s Stand actually grows stronger over time.

Apart from its extraordinary functionalities, it’s worth noting Stone Free’s unique abilities. This Stand and Jolyne’s body can be disassembled to navigate confined areas, create bridges, ensnare enemies, trickily steal items, open locks, and perform numerous other tricks. Compared to Stardust Crusader, the series Stone Ocean improves by equipping Stone Free with capabilities similar to Star Platinum, minus the traditional Star Finger magic. Although it doesn’t possess time-stopping or willpower-nullifying powers, by the conclusion of Stone Ocean, Stone Free demonstrates its independence and worth.

Ojiro’s Fun Fun Fun (Part 8: Jojolion)

Using Fun Fun Fun can be tricky due to its limited activation window: the user needs to stand above an injured individual who has been marked on one of their limbs, granting control over that particular limb. If all limbs are marked, the user gains full body control, allowing them to manipulate the victim’s actions as if they were a puppeteer.

Ojiro mainly utilizes his Stand, Fun Fun Fun, by laying traps due to its intricate activation process. However, when used against Josuke, it proves to be dangerous instead. Imagine a Stand like this in malicious hands, gradually taking control of your body while you’re unaware. As terrifying as it sounds to set up, consider the implications if Fun Fun Fun fell into the wrong hands – the fearsome potential it holds becomes apparent. In the right tactical setup, Fun Fun Fun could become an unstoppable force.

Aisho’s Doobie Wah (Part 8: Jojolion)

Among the chilling Stands, none compare to the relentless terror of Doobie Wah, an autonomous, long-range Stand that mercilessly hunts its prey. It has the uncanny ability to manifest within a person’s breath, unleashing a devastating, destructive whirlwind. Doobie Wah is essentially indomitable; it has been proven that oxygen masks are powerless against its pursuit. As long as you continue to breathe, Doobie Wah remains a constant danger. To add fuel to the fire, this Stand can simultaneously target multiple individuals.

Despite its complexity not being evident, activating it is quite straightforward – all User Aisho needs to do is physically touch a person or their Stand. The fortunate incident that saved Tsurugi and Yasuho from death occurred when Tsurugi’s long-range Paper Moon King Stand inadvertently defeated Aisho. Doobie Wah, while not overly flamboyant, possesses an immense destructive force, making a victorious beating unnecessary since its power was sufficient on its own.

Tiziano’s Talking Head (Part 5: Golden Wind)

The reason watching Team Bucciarati’s confrontation with Squalo and Tiziano is so infuriating lies in the fact that Talking Head, despite its unassuming appearance, possesses hidden might. Essentially, Talking Head is a small entity that adheres to your tongue, performing two functions: initially, it obstructs honesty (a feature Tiziano can manipulate); secondly, it commands control over your tongue (and, to a certain extent, your body) whenever it pleases.

It’s deeply unsettling to witness this unfold, and you can truly empathize with Narancia and Giorno’s distress as they struggle to convey what’s going on. Meanwhile, Talking Head is orchestrating the prolongation of Narancia’s tongue to grab a knife and injure himself. In skilled hands, Talking Head has the power to exert terrible control, compelling its victims to speak or stay quiet, to lie or tell the truth. Many stands can cause pain, but watching Talking Head is particularly agonizing.

Rubber Soul’s Yellow Temperance (Part 3: Stardust Crusaders)

Humorously, Yellow Temperance is sometimes referred to as the “yellow gloop Monolith”. Essentially, this describes it well. Yellow Temperance is a relentless, indefatigable substance that devours flesh and matter, with the ability to multiply and cover the bodies of those it comes into contact with. The material it consumes can be utilized for various purposes, such as creating an indestructible gloop suit or perfectly duplicating any physical object.

Stardust Crusaders” can replicate people or objects. However, it doesn’t have a set limit on what it can replicate. For instance, it could potentially create a giant trap by duplicating a building and contaminating anyone who enters. The unique ability of Yellow Temperance, another character’s Stand, is that its limitations are only as defined by the user themselves. Jotaro doesn’t necessarily defeat Yellow Temperance; instead, he uses Rubber Soul’s need for human breath against it. The intense pressure that Yellow Temperance applies is a key reason why “Stardust Crusaders” is considered the most beloved part of “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Absolutely, there are numerous potent Stands in “JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure” that might have gone unnoticed by viewers.
