Discover the 4 Original Voices Returning in Lilo & Stitch’s Live-Action Remake!

Disney’s live-action adaptations are known for introducing fresh twists in classic stories. For instance, Mulan does away with the musical aspects to maintain realism, while Snow White gives Dopey a chance to speak. The creative minds at Disney strive to produce remakes that are more than just money-making ventures; they aim to discover innovative elements that surpass their predecessors. Yet, these adaptations still pay homage to the original stories. In fact, Lilo & Stitch, set for release in 2025, is filled with references to its animated version and even brings back some familiar characters to emphasize its central message: family.

A total of four actors from the 2002 film “Lilo & Stitch” have transitioned to live-action roles. However, these actors do not reprise their exact characters from the original movie, which makes it challenging to identify their appearances in the remake.

Chris Sanders as Stitch

The roots of Stitch can be traced back to the 1980s when Chris Sanders conceived him as a character for a book proposal. Fast forward to later years, Sanders presented the character to Disney and was given approval to develop a movie about him in collaboration with co-director Dean DeBlois. Interestingly, Sanders also provided Stitch’s voice in the original film, and he continued to do so across all subsequent sequels and spinoffs.

Because Stitch’s voice is just as memorable as his appearance, Sanders reprises his role for the live-action remake. Although he won’t be directing this time, he remains a significant contributor to the production, making sure Stitch retains that intimidating voice despite his endearing look.

Tia Carrere as Mrs. Kekoa

In the animated film, while Lilo and Stitch enjoy their adventures, it’s Nani who has to take a firm stance, concerned about her younger sister getting injured or endangered from spending time with an extraterrestrial being. Actress Tia Carrere, famous for her roles in “Wayne’s World” and “Duck Dodgers”, lends life to Nani’s no-nonsense demeanor by voicing her character in various productions.

In the live-action version of “Lilo & Stitch”, Sydney Elizebeth Agudong takes over from Carrere, but she remains sympathetic towards Nani. Her character, Mrs. Kekoa, is a social worker who aids Nani in her efforts to care for her younger sister following the demise of their parents.

Jason Scott Lee as Luau Manager

In the classic movie “Lilo & Stitch“, Nani has a strong network of support, which includes her boyfriend, David, who soon becomes close friends with Lilo. The enthusiasm he displays for surfing is contagious, yet it’s his voice actor, Jason Scott Lee, that truly makes his character stand out and memorable.

In the 2025 movie, Lee reappears, but instead of aiding Nani, he creates more problems for him. He portrays the manager at Jason’s Luau, who dislikes it when his staff arrives late and brings siblings to work.

Amy Hill as Tūtū

In the 2002 film, as Nani searches for employment, she stumbles upon a job listing at Mrs. Hasagawa’s fruit stand. However, when Nani talks to her, the elderly woman can’t recall anything about it. The situation becomes even more uncomfortable when Lilo and Stitch accidentally collide with the cart during their encounter.

Amy Hill, who lends her voice to Mrs. Hasagawa, assumes a distinct role in the live-action adaptation, yet remains notably impactful. Tūtū, their neighbor, is situated beside Lilo and Nani, offering assistance whenever possible while empathizing with their experiences.
