Discover the Shocking Filming Locations of Netflix’s ‘Adolescence’!

The Netflix series “Adolescence,” co-created by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, begins by depicting the arrest of a 13-year-old boy under suspicion for murdering a young girl. He is alleged to have committed the heinous act.

It’s evident that when Jamie Miller asserts his innocence, it’s not a suspenseful plot twist in a mystery novel; a point already made by Graham during a talk at a Netflix gathering earlier this year.

He mentioned that a concerning trend of increased knife violence among young men has been prevalent across the nation for about the last decade.

In my opinion, there were specific moments that stood out, where young males (who are indeed still boys, not adults) were taking the lives of young females.

When I brought it up with Phil [Barantini, director], it struck me forcefully. I couldn’t help but wonder, “What’s the reason? What’s behind it? Why does it have to be this way?

Graham also echoed that in an interview with Tudum.

He stated, “We wanted to explore questions like, ‘What influences and challenges do today’s young men encounter, specifically from their friends, online platforms, and social networks?’

The challenges arising from these various aspects are equally tough for children here as they are for children everywhere.

Last year, the filming of Adolescence took place primarily on sets, but a portion of it was also shot on real locations.

Where was Adolescence filmed?

Adolescence was filmed in South Kirkby, West Yorkshire.

For half a year during the previous summer, the team responsible for the project was stationed at a studio complex situated close to Wakefield, where the majority of the shooting occurred.

As a passionate film buff, I’ll share my insights on a fascinating series production. When it came to the one-shot aspect, we faced a significant hurdle. To accommodate our technical requirements and also serve as a comfortable living space for both crew and actors throughout the entire production process, we needed an ideal studio setup, which proved to be quite the challenge, according to Mark Herbert, joint CEO of WARP Films.

“It was a great space to build our sets.”

One of the studios housed an “extensive set build”, part of which was a police station.

There were “two internal builds” in total, plus an “extension outside”.

Filming was done on-site as well, including at the Miller House, a mere short distance away from the studio.
