This time we’re returning to the realm of “The Wheel of Time,” as the highly-anticipated third season of the Prime Video series premieres, continuing its adaptation from the novels written by Robert Jordan.
In the upcoming episodes, Rosamund Pike resumes her role as Moiraine Damodred, taking us to unexplored landscapes with breathtaking visuals.
Showrunner Rafe Judkins has expressed that this new season is our most faithful adaptation yet from one of the books, featuring many favorite scenes straight from the book. Some of these scenes are large-scale, such as Rand declaring himself Car’a’carn in the Aiel Waste, while others are more intimate.
In a particularly tender moment, Mat (Dónal Finn) and Suian (Sophie Okonedo) share a scene that carries significant weight. He hands her the Horn of Valere, which is deeply moving since it holds great importance in the books.

Where was The Wheel of Time season 1 filmed?
In diverse spots across the globe, the initial series of The Wheel of Time was filmed, encompassing places like the Czech Republic, Croatia, Slovenia, and the Canary Islands.
In Croatia, places utilized encompassed regions near Dubrovnik, famously known as one of the filming sites for HBO’s hit fantasy show, Game of Thrones.
During the series, scenic mountain views were frequently captured in the Bovec region of Slovenia, while most filming took place at Jordan Studios in Prague, the show’s main production site.
What is Jordan Studios?
One of the major locations used for filming on The Wheel of Time is Jordan Studios in Prague.
Often, TV shows create scenes involving interiors and special visual effects within studio environments like these; however, it’s not frequently the case that an entire studio is constructed solely for one particular production.
Nevertheless, this is precisely what transpired with The Wheel of Time project, as it turned out that studios in Central and Eastern Europe were already fully occupied.
According to David Brown, the series producer, he shared with GQ during an interview at Jordan Studios that his friends working in Budapest warned him, “You won’t be able to gain entry.” Finding Prague unsatisfactory, the team opted to establish a new studio instead.
Being such a large corporation, our production is incredibly innovative and expansive. Given its scale, it requires substantial resources. That’s why we’ve set up shop in this massive building spanning 350,000 square feet.
The article mentions that the studio is equipped with various facilities such as a visual effects workshop, a training facility for stunts, archery ranges, rock climbing walls, an on-site armorer/jeweler, a 3D printing lab, a costume design department, private writer’s offices, a collective writer’s room, accounting office, set locations for decoration and publicity, and sound stages.

Where was The Wheel of Time season 2 filmed?
In the second season, the show resumed its journey in Prague, Czech Republic, as well as at Jordan Studios. The shooting commenced in 2021 and continued into early 2022.
In addition to the Czech Republic’s capital city, other filming locations were utilized, such as Jindřichův Hradec, Letohrádek Hvězda, Barrandov Studios, and Karlova Koruna Castle.

In the third season, we traveled to Slovenia’s Soča Valley for filming, but our production journey didn’t stop there. We ventured further to South Africa, where we filmed at Cape Town Film Studios and in the Western Cape’s mountainous regions, the Atlantis Dunes, the Afrikaans Language Museum and Monument, and near Vioolsdrif in the Northern Cape.
