The Academy Award-winning actor has been blessed with opportunities to contribute to multiple film series, such as Marvel’s , James Cameron’s Avatar, and the Kelvin Timeline films. From June 1 onwards, fans of Saldaña can enjoy the actress in a less recognized 2017 fantasy film that boasts a “Certified Fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Beginning June 1st, “I Kill Giants” will be available for free streaming on Tubi. This captivating movie, a blend of fantasy, drama, and suspense, is based on a highly praised graphic novel series. Notably, it was co-produced by Chris Columbus and Mark Radcliffe, who are also known for their work in the “Harry Potter” film series as producers.
The movie is presently boasting a 78% rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes and a 74% approval from audiences. Yet, upon its premiere, the film “I Kill Giants” managed to earn just $342,558 globally at the box office.
I Kill Giants is Based on a Comic Series
The movie chronicles the journey of Barbara Thorson, portrayed by Madison Wolfe (from “Mayfair Witches”), a misunderstood fifth-grader, who seeks solace from her difficult reality by exploring fictitious realms with her friend Sophia, played by Sydney Wade from “Woolfblood”. Zoe Saldaña assumes the role of Barbara’s school counselor, Ms. Molle. Additionally, Imogen Poots plays Barbara’s sister in this production.
The film was penned by its original comic creators, Kelly and Niimura, and helmed by Anders Walter for his first time as a director. In this movie, Barbara confronts her anxieties when menacing giants endanger her settlement. Yet, the struggle appears enigmatic, leaving spectators to ponder if these adversaries are genuine or simply a means for Barbara to deal with her life’s challenges.

The Next Avatar Will Be Released This Year
Actress Saldaña, known for her role in the Paramount+ series “Lioness”, will once again play Neytiri in the upcoming Avatar film titled “Avatar: Fire and Ash”. This movie is due to be released in December, continuing a franchise that started with the 2009 release of “Avatar”.
Speaking on The Actor’s Side video series, Saldaña expressed, “I was 28 when I made my first movie, and if everything goes as intended, I should be around 53 or 54 for the fifth and final one.” She added, “It’s a blessing to return to a character that has given me so much and to revisit a world that holds such magic, not just for me, but for countless people worldwide. We saw communities in the Amazon who were touched by the first Avatar, moved by the stories Jim was telling and feeling represented in the narrative he was sharing. It’s truly beautiful to be part of something so meaningful.
The New Avatar Will be an “Emotional Roller Coaster”
The story penned jointly by Cameron, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver continues with Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri’s family as they come across another Na’vi tribe while venturing towards a fresh territory.
Previously, Saldaña expressed that the ending of The Way of Water was exceptionally painful for the Sully family. Now, they are faced with tough choices: Should they remain united and seek common ground, or go their separate ways? It’s uncertain what lies ahead for the younger members of the family.
On June 1, you can stream “I Kill Giants” on Tubi. The much-anticipated film “Avatar: Fire and Ash” is set to premiere in cinemas on December 19.
