As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news about Disney Lorcana‘s upcoming set, Archazia’s Island! Disney Lorcana is stepping up their game with this new expansion, and Ravensburger has given us a sneak peek into what makes it unique. Two novel types of cards, Dual-Ink cards and Lore cards, will be scattered across Archazia’s Island, adding a fresh twist to the gameplay. Moreover, a beloved set of Disney characters from The Aristocats is all set to make their Lorcana debut! Let’s delve deeper into these intriguing updates right here.
Previously, Ravensburger had announced that Archazia’s Island would introduce new characters from movies like Bolt and Lady and The Tramp. But now, it seems that The Aristocats, a classic animated film released in 1970, is also joining the mix. This story revolves around a clan of upper-class cats who get kidnapped by a shady butler. With the help of an alley cat named Scat Cat and his band of musicians, some characters from The Aristocats are now set to appear in the game.
Enthusiasts of The Aristocats can look forward to recognizable characters such as Thomas O’Malley, Duchess, Frou-Frou, Abigail Gabble, Scat Cat, Hit Cat, Peppo, Billy Boss, and Shun Gon (among others) gracing the game. We’ll have to keep an eye on what unique skills they’ll bring to the table when the game is released.
The Power of Dual-ink Cards
Let’s discuss dual-colored cards known as Dual-Ink cards. These unique cards boast two distinct ink hues, representing six magical color types – Amethyst, Amber, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire, and Steel. The dual nature of these cards means they inherit traits from both colors, enabling them to introduce game-changing effects that were previously unseen on a single card. However, it’s important to note that in order to use Dual-Ink cards, the colors on your cards must match the colors you’ve chosen for your deck.
In the initial glimpse of Dual-ink cards, a variety of entertaining pairings are showcased such as Pascal (Yellow & Purple), Calhoun (Yellow & Red), Kuzco (Purple & Green), Mufasa (Purple & Grey), Beast (Red & Blue), and my personal favorite, Lady Kluck (Blue & Grey), who is charming just like Robin Hood. In Archazia’s Island, you’ll discover Lore cards as well. Starting from this set, each puzzle card within a Booster pack will have a story added to its backside, turning them into Lore cards. Each Booster pack will contain one of twenty possible Lore cards at random. Once you’ve gathered all the cards, you can read the complete story and complete one of two unique art pieces as well.
The Story So Far
As a dedicated follower of the Illumineers, I embarked upon a journey with the glimmers, venturing across the seas in pursuit of knowledge to mend the Great Illuminary. Our voyage led us to an enigmatic island, where we were warmly received by the mysterious Archazia, the ancient guardian of this fortress. It is here that the Illumineers can learn the art of dual inkcasting and hone their skills amidst numerous challenges and training courses on the island itself.
As a gamer, I’m excited to share that when Archazia’s Island launches, it’ll offer two starter decks for single-player action: one featuring Amethyst/Steel – Jafar & Iago in the Amethyst/Steel faction, and another with Ruby/Sapphire – Belle & Beast from the Ruby/Sapphire group. Alongside these starter decks, you’ll also find Booster Packs, an Illumineer’s Trove, a Lilo Gift Box, playmats for your gaming surface, deck boxes to keep your cards organized, and card sleeves to protect your precious collection!
Starting March 7th, Archazia’s Island will become available for purchase at local gaming shops and specific retail spots within Walt Disney Resort, Disneyland Resort, and Disneyland Park. Later, on March 21st, the game will be released in mainstream stores and online marketplaces.
