It seems that after an unexpected removal, Disney+ has stealthily put back the four Indiana Jones movies directed by Steven Spielberg into their streaming library: Raiders of the Lost Ark, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
The temporary disappearance of several titles, along with others, from Disney’s streaming service in recent months has sparked criticism and bewilderment among subscribers, particularly since Disney+ is typically known as the platform for legendary franchises. This could be seen as an anomaly.
Notably, “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” is yet to appear on Disney+, and there’s been no clear explanation for this omission. This persistent absence symbolizes a recurring issue where certain titles mysteriously disappear from the service without much public announcement—a pattern that has been observed and discussed by “That Park Place” on YouTube.
As suggested by Jonas J. Campbell and Vash Sky’s reporting, it seems that cost-reduction measures within the company and possible tax deductions could be the reasons for these dismissals.
Of course, Indiana Jones is not the only storied property to encounter abrupt streaming upheavals.
2023 saw Disney halting production on the sequel series of “Willow,” a continuation of the storyline initiated by Ron Howard’s 1988 fantasy film. This series faced strong criticism from fans of the original due to its focus on identity politics and the introduction of “girl boss” characters, which many felt replaced the beloved characters like Willow that audiences had grown fond of over the years.
Just a few months following the conclusion of the series, the decision to take it off air left fans baffled. It appears Disney stood to gain significant tax benefits by pulling the show, which seemed to outweigh their potential earnings from keeping it accessible. Notably, there were no other options for viewing the program except through Disney+.
Star Warwick Davis, who was instrumental in both the initial Willow movie and its Disney+ sequel, expressed disappointment over its removal, especially for viewers who hadn’t had a chance to watch it yet. In interviews reported by various media outlets, Davis regretted that devoted fans were suddenly left without a legitimate means to view the series.
This photo popped up as a memory. It’s a behind-the-scenes shot from the Willow series, and I can’t help but feel disappointed that Disney Plus seems to prioritize shareholders over subscribers when making creative choices. #Justsaying
I only ever saw each episode once!😡

The popular Disney+ original series, “Haley’s On It,” mysteriously disappeared from the streaming service with very little information provided by Disney about the reason behind its removal. However, a reliable source from “That Park Place” has shared some inside information, suggesting that Bob Iger himself approved the decision to exclude the show due to the high cost of maintaining it on their ad-supported platform outweighing the revenue generated from it.
It seems that the intended viewers for America Ferrera’s animated series were likely very few or almost non-existent.
The taking down of the first four Indiana Jones movies initially was due to a disagreement over rights between Disney and Paramount.
