Disney’s Live-Action Lilo & Stitch Teaser Unleashes an Adorably Destructive Stitch

As a lifelong Disney enthusiast who has grown up with the magical tales of love, friendship, and adventure, I must admit that the first teaser for the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake left me utterly spellbound! Having watched the original animated movie countless times, I can confidently say that this new iteration promises to be a fresh, captivating take on a classic story.

Stitch is cute and fluffy in CGI. Walt Disney Pictures has released the first teaser for its live-action Lilo & Stitch remake, and it shows Stitch, a.k.a. Experiment 626 (voiced by Chris Sanders), doing what he was made to do: Destroy everything he touches. The little monster was designed by self-professed evil genius Dr. Jumba Jookiba (Zach Galifianakis) to be an instinct-driven destroyer, so the new teaser features Stitch wreaking havoc on the otherwise beautiful beaches of Kauai, Hawaii, like a dog-sized Godzilla.

In a fresh, live-action take on Disney’s 2002 animated film, we follow the heartwarming and humorous tale of a solitary young Hawaiian girl named Lilo (played by newcomer Maia Kealoha). After a runaway extraterrestrial lands on Earth and is mistaken for a puppy, Lilo takes him in as her pet. However, this “shelter dog” attracts the attention of both terrestrial forces like former CIA Agent-turned-social worker Cobra Bubbles (Courtney B. Vance) and cosmic entities such as the United Galactic Federation led by the Grand Councilwoman (Hannah Waddingham). As Stitch learns to find meaning in his existence, he helps mend Lilo’s fractured family, or ohana.

In the ensemble of the latest film, we have Sydney Elizebeth Agudong portraying Lilo’s caring elder sibling, Nani, Billy Magnussen assuming the role of UGF Agent Pleakley, and Tia Carrere stepping into the part of social worker Mrs. Kekoa.

Lilo & Stitch smashes into theaters May 23, 2025.
