Doctor Doom’s Epic Clash with Marvel’s Hidden Cosmic Pantheon!

In a standalone story titled “One World Under Doom“, Doctor Doom will engage with Marvel’s newly established divine council of gods, who now govern the cosmos. This part of the Marvel Universe underwent a significant transformation due to the imaginative work of writer Jonathan Hickman and artist Valerio Schiti in “G.O.D.S.“. The series unveiled two covert entities manipulating events from behind the scenes – The-Powers-That-Be, which is associated with magic, and The-Natural-Order-of-Things, focusing on science. Although the characters from “G.O.D.S.” have been absent since the series concluded last year, they are set to make a powerful comeback in “G.O.D.S.: One World Under Doom“.

In collaboration, writer Ryan North and artist Francesco Mortarino (previously known for their work on Fantastic Four) are teaming up for G.O.D.S.: One World Under Doom #1. This one-shot comic aims to delve into the transformative ideas presented in G.O.D.S., while simultaneously unraveling the enigmatic factions that govern the fundamental building blocks of existence. As they grapple with Doctor Doom’s conquest of the Marvel Universe, these entities face the potential destruction of the omnipotent forces they protect.

As a devoted admirer, I find myself immersed in “G.O.D.S.: One World Under Doom” #1, where the solitary Avatar, Wyn – the embodiment of The-Powers-That-Be – and his apprentice, Mia DiMaria, grab the limelight. Wyn is troubled by Doctor Doom’s manipulation of both magic and science to conquer the world, and he is resolute in his mission to reverse this catastrophe. Simultaneously, Doctor Doom takes notice of Mia, sensing a hidden potential within her. Yet, he asserts that Mia can only unleash her full potential when she’s distanced from Wyn. This sets the stage for an intriguing collision of beliefs. This comic serves as a fantastic starting point if you’re new to the world and principles of “G.O.D.S.” #1.

North mentioned that although it might be senseless to try to imitate Jonathan Hickman’s corner of the Marvel Universe which he himself created, the new series G.O.D.S. is enjoyable and the opportunity to explore Mia and Wyn’s journey afterwards, along with how Doom factors into the storyline, was too enticing to pass up.
