Doctor Strange 3: Sam Raimi Rumored to Return as Director

As a lifelong Marvel fanatic with over two decades of comic book reading under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement about the potential return of Doctor Strange to the silver screen! Ever since Sam Raimi took the helm for the mind-bending Multiverse of Madness, I’ve been eagerly awaiting more adventures in the mystic arts.

It appears that the most powerful sorcerer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe may grace our movie screens earlier than expected. On a recent Friday, Jeff Sneider’s latest report hinted at Marvel Studios almost finalizing a deal for Sam Raimi to revisit the director’s chair for another Doctor Strange film. Previously, Raimi directed 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, taking over from Scott Derrickson, who initially helmed the first Doctor Strange movie.

There’s no specific information available about when Doctor Strange 3 might be released or its plot, but this news is the first indication of its development since Multiverse of Madness hit theaters and ended on a cliffhanger. Considering that Benedict Cumberbatch has hinted at his involvement in Avengers: Doomsday in 2026, there’s a possibility that Doctor Strange 3 could be among the films released between Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.

What Would Doctor Strange 3 Be About?

At the moment, there are no specific details revealed about Doctor Strange 3, but considering the suspenseful ending of Multiverse of Madness, it’s likely that the film will continue from where it left off. In the final scene of the movie, Benedict Cumberbatch’s character Stephen Strange / Doctor Strange and Charlize Theron’s Clea united to counteract the incoming intrusions.

In a 2022 interview with the New Indian Express, Cumberbatch expressed his hope that he would get another chance to portray Doctor Strange. The character’s complexity and the potential for further exploration make him intriguing, and Cumberbatch continues to enjoy playing him immensely.

Will Sam Raimi Direct Spider-Man 4?

After the hit movie Multiverse of Madness, fans are eager to know if Raimi might revisit his Marvel film series – the Sony Pictures trilogy of Spider-Man films from the 2000s. Although there’s been no official announcement about a potential Spider-Man 4 directed by Raimi and starring Tobey Maguire, the director has expressed interest in returning to that universe, provided the story is compelling enough.

In an interview recently, director Sam Raimi expressed his thoughts about potentially making a fourth Spider-Man movie. He stated that if we were to move forward with such a project, it’d be crucial to map out Tobey Maguire’s character’s journey and the challenges he would face to promote personal growth. Additionally, Raimi mentioned his hope that the antagonist in this hypothetical film would symbolize those challenges.

Doctor Strange 3 does not currently have a release date.
