Doctor Strange Series Ends Following the Shocking Events in Blood Hunt

As a long-time Marvel enthusiast with decades of comics under my belt, I must say that the conclusion of Doctor Strange‘s solo title left me both intrigued and disheartened. The Blood Hunt event was a rollercoaster ride, but the aftermath has left our favorite mystical hero in a state of limbo.

Fans following Doctor Strange’s solo comic book journey have reached its conclusion. The summer blockbuster event from Marvel, Blood Hunt, has wrapped up, leaving significant impacts on the broader Marvel Universe. Fortunately, the Avengers managed to thwart a vampire invasion, albeit at a great price. During this battle, Blade, under the influence of the ancient vampire Varnae, turned Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Miles Morales into vampires. Thankfully, both Doctor Strange and Black Panther were able to reclaim their humanity, but that wasn’t the only significant transformation for Stephen Strange. Instead, his agreement with Doctor Doom proved costly and marked the end of the latter’s ongoing series.

In issue #18, penned by Jed MacKay, Pasqual Ferry, Heather Moore, and Cory Petit, we find ourselves in the world of Doctor Strange. If you haven’t read Blood Hunt #5, it ended with Doctor Strange temporarily giving Doctor Doom the title of Sorcerer Supreme to combat Varnae. However, instead of returning the title once the vampires were defeated, Doctor Doom held onto it. This leaves Doctor Strange in an uncertain position. His old enemy, Baron Mordo, tries to exploit this confusion, but is quickly thwarted by Strange and his wife, Clea. Unwilling to accept this turn of events, our hero starts plotting a way to reclaim what was taken from him.

Doctor Strange Series Ends Following the Shocking Events in Blood Hunt

Initially, Doctor Strange visits the Vishanti to request their aid in regaining his position as Sorcerer Supreme. However, the three divine entities choose not to involve themselves in Strange’s conflict with Doctor Doom, who was appointed Sorcerer Supreme by Strange himself. Additionally, Doom played a crucial role in saving the world, making him de facto fulfilling his duties. With no help from the Vishanti, Doctor Strange decides it’s necessary to approach Doctor Doom directly.

Over Latveria, Doom has erected a protective dome, barring Doctor Strange from entering the nation. Frustrated and furious, Strange vents his anger on the dome, repeatedly punching it until his fists are battered and swollen. Suspecting that Doom had foreseen the vampire uprising and utilized it to his advantage to control the situation, Strange ponders enlisting the aid of his reformed alter ego, General Strange, in retaliation against Doom.

In the end, Doctor Strange finds himself back at Sanctum Santorum without engaging in a fight against Doctor Doom. With Clea by his side, he’s come to terms with his current situation, whether he’s content with it or not. Clea points out that Strange has been deceived from every angle – by the ghost of his brother Victor Strange, his friend Blade, the inactivity of the Vishanti, and his adversary Doctor Doom. Yet, there’s one individual who will never deceive him: Clea. And despite no longer being Sorcerer Supreme, the world still relies on Doctor Strange.

Wrapping up now, the Marvel’s Doctor Strange series concludes its run. Marvel hasn’t given any hint about the next Doctor Strange comic or who will be the creative team behind it. There’s even a possibility of a new series focused on Doctor Doom. With 2025 hinting at “One World Under Doom,” Doom is ready to exert significant influence over the Marvel Universe in future stories.
