It’s been confirmed that the actor known for his roles in Doctor Who and Harry Potter, Simon Fisher-Becker, passed away at the age of 63.
On his official Facebook page, Simon’s husband Tony announced the “very sad news”.
At 2:50 this afternoon, Simon sadly took his last breath, as he shared in a message. For now, I plan to keep this account active, though I’m undecided about whether I’ll continue to post. Thank you for your understanding and support.
As a passionate cinephile, I’ve always admired the versatile talent of Fisher-Becker. He graced both stage and screen with his captivating performances, leaving indelible impressions on audiences worldwide. Among my favorites are his roles as the humorous Fat Friar in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and the enigmatic Dorium Maldovar in Doctor Who seasons 5 and 6.
Apart from his roles in Doctors, Puppy Love, and Chakan, the Eternal One, he has also acted in various television and movie productions.
Additionally, he provided his vocal talents for numerous audiobook ventures, such as Big Finish’s Gallifrey V and Iris Wildthyme productions.
Kim Barry, Simon Fisher-Becker’s representative, conveyed a message to Metro that underscores the information: “Today, I mourn the loss of more than just a professional associate in Simon Fisher-Becker; I also lost a cherished friend whom I had known for 15 years.
As a dedicated Whovian, I’ll always cherish the memory of the phone conversation we shared when he landed the role of Dorium Moldovar in Doctor Who on BBC. That call will forever resonate with me.
Simon, not only was he a skilled writer and an engaging storyteller, but he was also an exceptional orator. He provided significant assistance to me and showed kindness, generosity, and genuine concern for all those around him.
