As a woman who has spent decades navigating through the complexities of society and witnessing the unjust treatment of women, I am genuinely excited about the upcoming series “Curfew” on Paramount Plus. The premise of an alternate reality where men are bound by a strict curfew resonates deeply with my experiences, and I can’t wait to see how this narrative unfolds.
A captivating new drama will be premiering on Paramount Plus towards the end of this year. The main cast includes Mandip Gill, Sarah Parish, Mitchell Robertson, and Alexandra Burke who will lead the show.
In an imagined world akin to Jayne Cowie’s After Dark, the story unfolds during a different reality where the Men’s Security Regulation is in effect. Men must adhere to a strict curfew from 7pm to 7am daily, their movements monitored by a wrist tag.
However, when a grisly murder occurs beyond the designated curfew time and the victim’s lifeless body is discovered on the doorstep of the Women’s Security Hub, Detective Pamela Green (Sarah Parish) suspects a male perpetrator.
But given the curfew system, her theory isn’t believed.
As a film enthusiast, I can’t help but express my admiration for the impactful series, “The Women’s Safety Act.” This groundbreaking legislation has undeniably proven effective in ensuring women’s safety, enabling us to walk freely at night without constantly looking over our shoulders. It’s not just about the change it’s brought; it’s about the peace of mind it’s provided, and I for one, wouldn’t want that conversation to veer off into a different direction.
Previews for the six-episode series have emerged, offering a more detailed glance at Parish’s character and her quest for the truth. However, there are influential figures who seem intent on preventing her from uncovering the actual events that transpired.
In the pictures, you’ll find Parish standing next to Mitchell Robertson (up there), a novice police officer accompanying Pamela during her initial murder investigation.
As a dedicated cinema enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that Mandip Gill, famously known for her role in Doctor Who, is set to grace our screens with her presence. She’ll be portraying Sarah, a diligent worker at the local Women’s Safety Centre. Meanwhile, Alexandra Burke, remembered for her role in Sister Act, will step into the shoes of Helen, a dedicated school teacher and advocate for the curfew, who shares a close bond with Sarah.
Additionally, we have Lucy Benjamin from Detectorists, Larry Lamb known for Gavin and Stacey, Bobby Brazier well-known in EastEnders, Anita Dobson also from EastEnders, Tommy McDonnell of Alice & Jack, Adam Korson starring in This Is Us, Amy Louise Pemberton recognized for DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, Imogen Sandhu prominent on Casualty, James Craven appearing in Coronation Street, Selorm Adonu from Man to Man, and newcomer Raphael D’Alterio joining the cast.
The new series, “Curfew,” will first air on Paramount Plus this fall. Enjoy a week of complimentary streaming with Amazon Prime Video.
