Doctor Who announces 2 new audio adventures read by Susan Twist

As a devoted Whovian with years of time-traveling tales under my belt, I can hardly contain my excitement for the upcoming audio adventures featuring Ncuti Gatwa’s Fifteenth Doctor and Millie Gibson’s Ruby Sunday! The synopses for On Ghost Beach and Sting of the Sasquatch have me longing to hop aboard the TARDIS once more.

Although there’s still some time left before we can watch the Doctor Who Christmas 2024 episode and the upcoming season of the science fiction series, fans won’t have to wait much longer as they’ll soon get a taste of more thrilling adventures through some fresh audio stories.

Starting in November, fans can embark on two fresh journeys alongside the Fifteenth Doctor played by Gatwa and Millie Gibson’s character, Ruby Sunday.

In a forthcoming reading, Susan Twist, a notable figure from last season, will narrate the story titled “On Ghost Beach”, while Genesis Lynea will take on the narrative duties for the other tale called “Sting of the Sasquatch”.

In the coastal town of County Durham, England, during the year 1958, Ghost Beach is where the story unfolds – penned by Niel Bushnell. This upcoming narrative promises to send shivers down the spines of both the Doctor and Ruby, as they become entangled in a chilling mystery. The plot summary goes: “Upon arrival, the TARDIS lands on what was once Seaham Chemical Beach, a site of industrial might that has since been deserted. However, locals are now plagued by eerie nightmares and ghostly visions.”

I soon find myself influenced by the strange aura of this coastline, along with the Doctor. Our memories start to fade slightly, but a faint, distant voice echoes, urging Ruby onward.

1. Who owns the recollections swirling in the minds of travelers, and why does Ghost Beach, situated within the Sea of Despair on the planet Farfrom, carry such weight? Above all, who is Reg?

The novel “Sting of the Sasquatch,” penned by Darren Jones, is characterized as an exhilarating, action-packed journey across America for both the Doctor and Ruby.

The summary indicates that “In a North-American National Park situated in the northwest, the Doctor and Ruby find themselves chased by colossal, monkey-like beings that seem to vanish into the woods. When Ruby suddenly becomes unwell, apparently from a sting, the Doctor suspects the illness could be of alien origin.”

The story goes on: “They come across Dixie and Greg, two relentless Bigfoot pursuers, who are on a mission to locate the legendary Sasquatch. However, Ranger Peone cautions against venturing into the forest due to its perceived danger. In the past month alone, over thirty people have either disappeared or returned with no recollection of their whereabouts.”

Next, the mysterious ape-like beings abduct Ruby. Eager to rescue her and unravel the enigma surrounding the Sasquatch, the Doctor becomes resolute in his actions.

Both audio adventures will be released on 7th November, but are available to pre-order now.

Doctor Who will return at Christmas on BBC iPlayer and BBC One.
