Doctor Who Episode Returns to iPlayer with Major Change

2006’s Doctor Who episode titled “Fear Her” has returned to BBC iPlayer following its removal from the streaming service last year.

Back in August 2024, it became known that the episode had been taken down from iPlayer following its inclusion of the discredited newsreader Huw Edwards.

In the initial broadcast, Edwards briefly appeared, playing his own character, to report on BBC News regarding the occurrences within the episode. These peculiar happenings involved people mysteriously disappearing, which were attributed to the supernatural abilities of a troubled teenage girl named Chloe Webber.

In July 2024, Edwards admitted guilt for producing three child pornography images. Later on, it was determined that he would serve a suspended prison sentence of six months over a period of two years, and he would also have to attend a rehabilitation program for sex offenders.

Presently, the “Doctor Who” episode underwent a re-dubbing process, eliminating any presence of Edwards. Instead, actress Becky Wright, known for her work on various “Doctor Who” podcast series, is now taking his place.

Regarding alterations made within the episode, the central plotline stays consistent; however, some of the spoken words between characters have been modified.

In the initial broadcast, Edwards’ voice echoes as he comments, “Goodness gracious, what’s happening here? Just like that, the crowd has disappeared before mine own eyes. This can’t be true. Bob, could we switch to your perspective in the booth? Bob… even you?

Following the resolution of the crisis, his voice can be heard once more stating: “They’re back! Incredible indeed. And an enigmatic figure, whose identity remains unknown to us, has taken up the torch. It’s not just warmth and illumination, it’s hope, courage, love – all in one.

Look at this, something strange is happening! The crowd has disappeared, they’re all vanished, just gone in an instant. It seems like thousands of people have simply vanished before my eyes, it can’t be true. Hey Bob, can we come up to the box with you? Even you, Bob?

Check out this amazing sight at the Olympic Stadium! 80,000 participants and spectators vanished only to reappear again. They’re back, they’ve returned, it’s truly remarkable!
