Doctor Who Shocker: Beloved Stars Return in a Surprising Twist!

On June 7th, a unique behind-the-scenes show titled “Doctor Who: Unveiled” will make its premiere, showcasing various actors from the program who have been part of it before and after 2005 discussing their journey with the show.

Among those stars, including current companion Varada Sethu, will be joined by numerous others. Billie Piper (Rose), Jodie Whittaker (The Thirteenth Doctor), Pearl Mackie (Bill Potts), David Tennant (The Tenth/Fourteenth Doctor) and Manip Gill (Yaz Khan) have been announced to appear. However, it was recently revealed that two more Doctor Who legends will make an appearance as well.

Amy Pond, portrayed by Karen Gillan, and Rory Williams, played by Arthur Darvill, were integral characters who shared an extraordinary journey alongside the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith). Being the first married couple in the series, their adventure was nothing short of thrilling – a mild description wouldn’t do justice to it. Following an exciting episode with the Weeping Angels, Gillan made a brief reappearance for a cameo in the Eleventh Doctor’s swansong, “The Time of the Doctor”.

Gillan might be regarded as an excellent addition to the show, given her career trajectory that skyrocketed after leaving “Doctor Who”. Known for portraying Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she has become a cherished figure. Moreover, she has had a leading role in the revamped “Jumanji” franchise and is set to appear in upcoming projects as well.

Both Gillan And Darvill Would Return To The Show

Karen Gillan continues to hold a special place in her heart for the show that catapulted her to fame. In an interview last year, she expressed her readiness to reprise her role as Amy Pond, given the chance to act alongside Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill once more. “I’d never rule anything out,” she said. “If the opportunity presented itself, I would be extremely intrigued and eager. It would be fantastic. I hope it could happen with Matt Smith and Arthur Darvill.

Arthur Darvill has expressed a willingness to reprise his role as Rory in the future. In 2023, he stated, “I would [return], but it would need to be the right opportunity and some time should have elapsed. We were frequently asked about it immediately after we left for other projects, so back then our response was, ‘No, I’ve been doing this for three years!’

Initially, I had reservations about revisiting the story due to its already flawless and complete narrative. However, as time has passed, I find myself intrigued by the idea of exploring new dimensions to this captivating tale, even if it’s a single sequel. After all, the charm of unpredictability never fades away!

Doctor Who concludes with “The Reality War” on BBC and Disney+ 31st May.
