Doctor Who Star Almost Appeared Years Ago?! The Audition Story You NEED To See!

Christopher Chung, who’s set to make his debut on Doctor Who, shared that this role marks his “third attempt” at becoming a part of the BBC’s science fiction series.

The well-recognized Australian actor, famed for his role as Roddy Ho in Apple TV+’s thriller Slow Horses, shifted to London back in 2012 and shared with TopMob magazine that he has been trying out for the part of Doctor Who since then.

He mentions in the most recent edition (available now) that he auditioned for a role in an episode titled “Knock Knock”, although he can’t recall all the specifics, but he is certain of it. This refers to the episode featuring Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie that was aired in 2017.

In another interpretation, the character might be depicted as a friend of Bill Potts (Mackie). The storyline would primarily revolve around this companion and her flatmates, while the Doctor delves into peculiar occurrences happening within their shared residence.

Chung went on to say, “In reality, I tried out for a different role within this show.” “Had I gotten the part, I’d likely have been a background actor to gain access to the set,” he added.

Ncuti Gatwa’s character, the Doctor, appears on our spacecraft just as we’re preparing to touch down on a planet for a mission because we’ve lost contact with a colony. Subsequently, a series of chaotic events unfold. I’ve heard that this episode is the most clandestine one of the season.

In a recent episode of Doctor Who: Unleashed, showrunner Russell T Davies hinted that “The Well” could potentially be the surprising follow-up to Doctor Who, sparking discussions among fans about its possible connections to “The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit” from 2006 or “Midnight” from 2008.

Have a peek at the initial glimpse of Chung’s episode titled ‘The Well’, which additionally includes a special guest role by Rose Ayling-Ellis, located hereunder.

In his current run of the series, this particular episode appears quite terrifying, as Chung confessed that he had been too frightened to ever watch Doctor Who as a child due to his timidity.

He said, “I couldn’t bear to watch anything slightly scary.” He continued, “Even the opening music gave me a slight shiver.” However, after moving here and witnessing its immense popularity, he began watching it and even started auditioning for roles!
