As someone who has grown up with Doctor Who and witnessed the regenerations of multiple Doctors, I can confidently say that the excitement surrounding the Fifteenth Doctor, Ncuti Gatwa, is palpable. His optimistic outlook on filming a third series next year fills me with hope for more heartwarming adventures and mind-bending mysteries to come.
It’s clear that Doctor Who enthusiasts can count on the series to air a Christmas special this year and a Season 15 in 2025. However, there remains uncertainty regarding its long-term plans past these dates.
The series hasn’t been officially confirmed for a 16th season as of now, but it’s worth noting that Disney Plus is joining forces with the BBC in its production.
Nevertheless, it appears that Ncuti Gatwa, the actor who portrays the Fifteenth Doctor, remains hopeful, given his recent statement that they will begin shooting his third series of episodes next year.
In an appearance on The Graham Norton Show tonight, Gatwa discussed Doctor Who. When asked about it, he shared that everything is progressing smoothly, they completed the second series this year, there’s a Christmas special approaching, and they will be shooting a third series next year.
It’s noteworthy that Gatwa’s remarks seem to present a slightly different perspective compared to the statements made recently by showrunner Russell T Davies.
In the latest edition of Doctor Who Magazine, it was stated that the determination for Season 3 will not be finalized until after Season 2 airs. This has been the standard practice since the beginning, and who knows, there might even be a chance for a break!
Despite some challenges ahead, as we work towards finishing The War Between the Land and the Sea and refining the remaining episodes for Season 2, the grand endeavor continues.
It often crosses my mind that each installment of Doctor Who is someone’s initial viewing experience. Globally, minds are about to ignite with curiosity, as these 14 episodes simmer, sizzle, and explode onto the screen.
Tonight, you’ll catch Gatwa gracing The Graham Norton Show. He’ll mainly discuss his part in The Importance of Being Earnest at the National Theatre.
They’ll sit together: Zoe Saldana, Selena Gomez, Miranda Hart, and Kevin Kline. Zoe, Selena, and Miranda will discuss their musical comedy-drama “Emilia Pérez,” while Miranda will also chat about her memoir “I Haven’t Beent Entirely Honest with You.” Kevin will talk about his Apple TV+ series “Disclaimer.” Lastly, Rag ‘n’ Bone Man is set to perform live.
