Doctor Who Stars Open Up

We have a terrific mix of stories for you in this week’s TopMob magazine.

In this new installment of Doctor Who, you’ll encounter Varada Sethu, the latest addition to the TARDIS crew. She follows in the footsteps of esteemed actors like Peter Purves and Billie Piper. Her character, Belinda, initially appears bewildered and tense in her debut episode. However, she reveals that this might be due to starting her job just two weeks prior.

Mek Mek is another character you might encounter, who may seem like an extraterrestrial beast, but in reality, is the hidden gem of Beyond Paradise.

Additionally, we’re privy to a potent personal admonition by historian and broadcaster, Sir Simon Schama, emphasizing the gravity of not forgetting the Holocaust. He expresses his concerns that, regrettably, this very thing might be taking place.

Among all the tales, what truly captivated me is our interview with William Mager and Matthew Gurney, who are both writers and stars of the fresh drama “Reunion.” Remarkably, they are deaf individuals, and their journey to ensure accurate representation of the deaf community and creating a mainstream production in both English and British Sign Language is nothing short of inspiring – marking a pioneering milestone for the BBC.

For the first time, our writer Gareth McLean conducted an interview with Matthew through a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter. Here’s hoping this serves as evidence that progress can occur without the need for time travel!
