On the eve of the start of the new Doctor Who season, it has been announced that Graham Norton will be a new addition to the show’s cast.
In the sixth episode of the season, known as “The Interstellar Song Contest”, Norton, who is well-known for his BBC commentator role during the Eurovision Song Contest, will be making an appearance, seemingly portraying himself.
Previously confirmed, Rylan Clark was set to feature in the show, with indications suggesting he’d be there in his real persona, overseeing the competition.
Russell T Davies commented on Norton’s casting by saying, “It’s impossible to imagine a singing competition without him, and it was a privilege to have Graham Norton join us at our studios in Cardiff.
Not only does he make a brief appearance, but his character plays a significant role in an unexpected turn of events! This episode, filled with chaos, becomes even more exhilarating thanks to Graham’s involvement.

I haven’t had my first encounter with Doctor Who just now. In fact, I’ve had a couple of comedic skits linked to Doctor Who under my belt, and not once, but twice, I’ve made an appearance on the main series in various guises – each time unintentionally.
2005 marked the occurrence of an oversight during the initial broadcast of the first revival series episode titled “Rose.” Due to this error, audio from another show, Norton’s Strictly Dance Fever, which was airing on BBC Three concurrently, inadvertently overlaid a scene.
2010 marked the occurrence of the second instance, as a promotional advertisement featuring a cartoon character named Norton, promoting his series “Over the Rainbow,” was aired during the climax and suspenseful cliffhanger scene in the episode titled “The Time of Angels.
Additionally, along with Norton and Clark, a number of other notable guest stars have been confirmed for the upcoming season, including Alan Cumming, Freddie Fox, Kadiff Kirwan, Charlie Condou, Miriam-Teak Lee, Christopher Chung, and Rose Ayling-Ellis.
In the upcoming airing, beginning this Saturday, they will appear together with Ncuti Gatwa as The Doctor and Varada Sethu’s fresh character, Belinda, by their side.
Significantly, the upcoming episode of Norton may undoubtedly appear on BBC iPlayer; however, there remains uncertainty if it will air on BBC One – as Russell T Davies discusses in this piece.
As a devoted movie enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that my favorite time-traveling series, Doctor Who, is back for season 15! Mark your calendars, it premieres on the 12th of April, 2025. You can catch the early bird on BBC iPlayer at a convenient 8 in the morning. For those who prefer the traditional television experience, tune into BBC One at 6:50 PM to enjoy it on the big screen!
