Doctor Who Wish World Easter egg revealed after ‘new’ Omega dialogue

In just a week following Susan’s and the Rani’s arrival back, Doctor Who brought about another significant throwback in “Wish World,” with the Rani unveiling her scheme to liberate Omega from the Underverse.

In doing that, Omega exclaimed joyfully, “Long live Omega! Omega will be free!” This declaration, without a doubt, echoed the voice of the original actor, Stephen Thorne.

In 2019, Thorne tragically passed away, causing fans to ponder the origin of this conversation. It’s now clear that the dialogue was sourced directly from the Big Finish audio drama titled “Gallifrey: Intervention Earth”.

In 2015, that particular audio drama served as the final acting performance by Thorne on any platform before his passing. He shared screen time with Juliet Landau portraying Romana III, Sophie Aldred as Ace, Seán Carlsen as Narvin, and Miles Richardson as Braxiatel in this production.

Omega debuted in the 1972 television series The Three Doctors, and subsequently reappeared in the 1983 production titled Arc of Infinity, with Ian Collier portraying him.

It remains undetermined at this point if the character will show up in person during the Season 15 finale, “The Reality War,” and if so, which actor will portray the role.

A fierce fight unfolds high above as the sinister Unholy Trinity launches a lethal crusade. The Doctor, Belinda, and Ruby must put everything on the line to protect just one life from certain peril.

1) This time around, the episode won’t just be broadcasted on BBC One, skipping the usual early release on iPlayer for this season; instead, it will simultaneously hit cinemas, sharing the spotlight with Wish World.

On Saturday, May 31st, 2025, Doctor Who will air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK starting at 6:50 PM local time. For those outside the UK, you can find the series on Disney+.
